Here's one idea

 

Take 10% of the national tax, and set it aside to give to those who need expensive medical treatment that is either not covered by their insurance, or who do not have health insurance. send a man or woman, (who is not tied to politics, and who is trustworthy and honest,) for every 500 to 10000 square miles (Depending on population,) and place him or her in charge of justly distributing this money to the needy. Let him or her hire good helpers, as trustworthy as him or her, and have these insure the money is given only to those who need it and that the money is used as such.

 

Like-wise, take 10% of the taxes in each state, and give it to those who can not afford assurance, and wish to do so. Place a honest and trustworthy man or woman in charge of this money, one for every 3-10 counties, again, to be determined by population, and likewise, let him or her hire honest and trust-worthy men and women to over see that the money is given to those who honestly need it and for the right purposes. Let this money be used for things, such as prescriptions, vaccines, and emergency treatments, as well as dental care. Place strong consequences on any who purposely misuse this money, such as to get prescription drugs to sell on the market.

 

For everyone else who can afford it, let them buy their assurance freely, and force them not. Place necessary requirements on companies to prevent them from denying anyone due to per-conditions, and to insure they keep a fair price for their services. Let them compete on the market, but make certain they do not scam their customers.

 

Of course, this is a plan if you want the government to help out, while not interfering with your rights. Using this method might work, but implementing it in a nation with trillions in debt, corrupt politicians, and various other problems would be the challenge, especially if avoiding tax increases, however, it can be done.

Having a special cancer insurance you have to pay extra for is kinda f***ed up sounding to me.

 

It was consisted of more than you think. Not only did it cover ALL expenses up to a 3 million dollar limit, but it also covered your salary should you get cancer and not be able to work for 1-2+ years while you undergo treatment. It used to be free but now its like $10/week. I paid for it anyway. I know that colon cancer and prostate cancer both run in my family. I had a doctor tell me that I have about a 60% chance of getting colon cancer if my father and grandfather both had it. Grandfather died from it, and my father has had colon polyps removed on 2 separate 3 year screenings. And they don't even charge me extra for the cancer insurance for being a higher risk. I could also choose the hospital I wanted to go to for cancer treatment.

They need to find a happy median with regulations, that won't just let them do whatever they want, but also not encourage them to go out of business.

 

The way the regulations are currently setup is in a way where its designed to be non competitive. And this is working in favor of the insurance companies being able to hike rates on everyone. And now that you get fined for not having insurance, it only means they are going to be encouraged to start charging more for it, and not less regardless if more people enter the pool or not. More people entering the pool is only going to mean higher profits for the insurance companies and not lower rates for everyone.

Hugely amused today. Today is the 50th anniversary of Medicare in Canada. A special section of the newspaper today has reprinted a bunch of letters and commentaries from protesters against Medicare and its amazing how much they are like what I'm reading in this and other forums.

 

I would think in a few years, if the system remains in the US, the arguments against changing the system will be just as passionate as they are now against it's implementation.

 

I'm also very amused at the number of people who are posting they are moving to get out of "socialist" USA. I just hope Rush Limbaugh does move to Costa Rica and I can't wait to hear Bill O'Reilly apologize for being an idiot.

How dumb can people be to think it's over and that SCOTUS Chief Justice Roberts entirely ruled in favor of the bill? The majority ruling was that it was unconstitutional on the basis of the Commerce clause that the government tried defending it with while ruling it only slightly constitutional on the basis of it imposing a tax. Ergo, he ruled on the definition of Obamacare and that the government is right to implement it - AS A TAX (which I should add is something that, constitutionally speaking anyways, must be started in the House of Representatives, not Senate), not for any other reason, defeating every argument the Obama regime had that it was anything but a tax.

 

With the precedent John Roberts put forward, government will have to think long and hard about being able to force people out of inaction since not everything can be an argument of taxes (and Obamacare really isn't a tax according to Obama).

 

Now it's in the GOP's hands to repeal, but this will not happen because Republicans are also owned by the same elite that own Democrats.

So, it seems the government can now legally force folks to buy a commercial product. Nice..... I wonder what's next.... Everyone has to buy a car, so the auto industry well do better? Okay, I've got a serious question: Have any of you actually read the PPACA – or even a summary of it – before declaring yourselves Internet experts on the subject?

 

Until every single member of Congress has read the bill, there is no credibility in demanding people to read it before commenting on it. Summaries on the other hand are quite useless themselves. There's no reason whatsoever for a transparent government to write a bill anywhere longer than what the average citizen is willing to put up with casually.

I havent read any of the posts before this so please forgive my ignorance, but just to clear somethings up what was passed was not a bill nor a tax, it was a mandate that enacts a tax with no penalty. meaning that it is an optional tax, really meant for those who cannot buy healthcare from an insurance company. just my two cents.

That gives power to nothing. It has to be mentioned as a power of congress. If its not, its not a power of congress. Otherwise all the 14 powers would be meaningless because the first line of section 8 would give Government all the power to do whats mentioned there. You are not to dumb to get that, you don't wanna get that.
