A little help with mods?

Hello! I've been modding for a little while now, and I've been able to mod the heck out of my Oblivion, easily installing FCOM and all of that kind of good stuff.

But right now, I've installed a few mods, and I've used BOSS to organize and sort them, and the game starts up through SKSE fine, but after I click new game, and once the intro rolls through, I CTD after the "Bethesda Presents Skyrim" text displays, while in the intro carriage/cart.

Here's a list of my mods after BOSS sorted it:

JSwords.esm

Populated Cities NPCListMaster.esm

HighResTexturePack01.esp

HighResTexturePack02.esp

Any kind of help/tips would be appreciated. (:

Hi, people have problems with that beginning sequence a lot.

One solution is to uninstall your mods and then add them after your exit the cave...

It is safest to add just 1 mod at a time and play a bit on it to make sure it works, otherwise if you add a bunch, you really don't know which is the issue.

It seems like mods that affect NPC animation, cities (like populated cities), or adds characters/monsters are the most troublesome at the beginning.

The other thing is. looking at your Boss-sorted list, although I don't have the same mods as you, typically WATER is wayyy down on my BOSS list, and i have to move it to absolute last to avoid crashes.

Since you are just starting, it might be the most efficient strategy in the long run to begin vanilla and add mods one at a time, but in any case good luck!

Thanks for your feedback! I'll try to turn off the population mods, and run it to see how it goes. If all else fails, I'll do as you recommend and get through the cave with just vanilla and then slowly re-enable and test all the mods. (:

I'll first try the WATER suggestion, though.
