samv96UK
I'm having some serious problems with my mod Rochebere. I can't even open the .esp at all. The last time I edited the mod, I went to save it and I got an error message: "Masterfile: unable to complete operation due to failure removing previous file. plugin Data/(Rochebere.esp) may be locked or read only. temp file Data/(Rochebere.tes) contains saved data." I closed the program, risking loosing what I had just added to the mod, to see if it dealt with the problem. Now I can't open it at all. I know it's not a problem with the CK because it can load all my other mods fine. I get one of the warnings I normally get when loading Rochebere, but then it crashes a couple of seconds after I click "Yes" or "Yes to all". I would really appreciate any help I can get, without it my project which I have spent months of my own time on may as well go in my recycle bin. David Brasher
I assume you had a recent backup? Best practices operating procedure is to save your mod multiple times each day using different names or directories. This way, when the mod is corrupted, lost, damaged, or just too messed-up to fix quickly, then you just load up a save of the proper age and go right back to work. Failing that, you might make copies of your broken mod and do destructive extreme modcleaning over and over, destroying large portions of your mod on different copies until you can get the mod to open in the CK. By doing this many times, you may be able to narrow it down to one small part of your mod that needs to be amputated in order to allow the CK to open. Then you can fix what was lost in that copy. samv96UK
After doing some digging, I managed to find a previous copy from the 29th June which opens fine. There's a little bit of work missing, but nothing I can't re-do. As for the problem itself, I have no idea what caused it. Between this save and the one which will no longer work, all I added was some basic dialogue for a quest and the start of an interior. Strange... Thanks for the support guys!
Ga-Knomboe Boy
Does this problem occur in the render window, or just when you load the mod? I got errors that crashed the creation kit when the render window was loading areas with particularly high texture counts. I found it was possible to load up the cell next to it, and then slowly pan / zoom into the cell and this would load the textures slower and not kill the creation kit. this would totally suck if you lost your work, I've been looking forward to your mod since its inception Edited July 2, 2012 by Ga-Knomboe Boy

When I began to load the CK would just crash... Thankfully, I managed to restore a previous version, which works. There's a little bit of work missing, but i'll just have to recreate that.
