CTD issue

Recommended Posts

Ok, so something is making Oblivion crash at 4:20 on a Monday, game-time. This seems ridiculously specific to me, since no matter which save I load or where I am/what I'm up to, it crashes when that time rolls around. I went as far as loading a save from waaaay back, and playing it until a Monday rolled around. Same problem.

I've tried pulling the bigger mods I've got installed, but if I pull too many at once I get a CTD when I try to load any saves at all. That's not part of this issue, it's just an ongoing thing because my game is waaaaay unstable. Anyway, I can't seem to pinpoint which mod is causing this, or if it's a load order thing, or what. If I know what it is, I can fix it. Otherwise, I'm kind of stuck.

Help?

Load order is in the spoiler

Did you use BOSS? cause i think some of the load order is out of place and remember to check the Notes for Boss cause you have some unneeded plugins

Also do u use wryebash? cause you dont need UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp if you have wryebash to check UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix under tweak setting when you build bash

Yeah, that's the list direct from wryebash. I also use BOSS, although one or two things I've had to tweak by hand for land tears and stuff, but those are all smaller, and older, mods that I've been using for a while. I didn't know about the vampire face thing though, that's interesting.

Another information i need, is when and where you CTD like do you get to Loading screen right after you load a save and immediately CTD or when it finishes loading your save then it CTD. Need to be specific to pinpoint what's wrong. Cause if you werent specific that you used BOSS or Wryebash we all assume you didnt use them :P

No loading screen, nothing like that. It loads the save as normal - any save, and I can play right through until that exact time, at which point it freezes for half a second, goes black and then boots me back to desktop with the 'this program has stopped working' message box. Y'know, in case I couldn't tell. Very standard crash, nothing unusual about it, just always happens whenever the game hits 2:40 on a Monday.

hmm r u sure you arent crashing at the same spot where ur at instead of crashing only on a specific time? If it is true that ur crashing on a specific time, it might be because of ur computer. Probably Physical memory overload or CPU

It's definitely the time. As I said, I've loaded different saves, even ones from weeks back in terms of game time, and it's Mondays at 2:40. It's definitely not a specific spot or what I'm doing, since no matter where I am or what I'm up to, as soon as that time rolls around, it crashes.

Be aware that just uninstalling all your mods and then re-installing them one at a time may still not help. The reason I say this is because I suspect you have a mod that has a script that triggers an event at 2:40 on Monday once the script is started. If that script isn't triggered until some other conditions are completed (say you need to complete the third quest to stage 60) you won't be able to duplicate the crash conditions without playing each mod out to completion. Even then the problem mod may not trigger the problem again if whatever other mod(s) are playing their part in the problem aren't also at the stage where they cause the problem. You aren't facing a simple troubleshooting exercise.

I'd look through the list of mods with an eye to which ones may have a script that is activated at that certain time. Load each mod you suspect in the CS and look for a script with a timer set to trigger on Monday at 2:40 (AI packages are all on the even hour, so I don't think they'd be at the root of the problem). I don't envy you the task.

Oh, I hadn't thought about scripts. I figured it might be an AI thing - an NPC set to do something in the 2pm+ slot that takes them the 40 minutes to walk to the target, but I forgot that a script would already be active and potentially causing the error even after the mod is pulled.

Gives me another avenue to try though!
