Ayleids or Dwemer

To the above poster that said "So the Dwemer are dwarfs" is wrong. They are ELVEN in origin. Just like the Orcs are.

Orcs are? i think you been watching to much Lord of the Rings ( unless you can find some proof)

i don't think that's true orcs could just be another race in tamreil

and to what you said about the Dwemer being Dwaves you are not wrong they are elves they only think its dwaven because of A the lookalike of the armor between dwaven and Dwemer and they were underground so that kinda confuses things

Catapults breaking through underground walls? Not likely, maybe the entrance, but if you break through there you have to get past the guards first. To get back to what made the Ayleids masters of magic, they were all high elves. Simple as that, high elves are the race that is most skilled in magic. And even though the slaves built the ayleid cities, it was still the ayleids who drew up the plans. Same as the egyptians designing the pyramids and having the slaves build them.

Hard to say. It looks as though the Ayleids excelled at mechanical traps within their buildings, plus advances along the lines of Welkynd Stones. The Dwemer were good with mechanical stuff. If it can be considered as proof, the "Midas Summon Dwemer Centurion" spell shows the Dwemer could make decent robots with magical capabilities.

Not to mention it's also the fastest ridable NPC in the game. Fast-travel time while riding the Centurion, from Bruma to Chorrol, was 4 minutes flat.
