farhanbaig
Hey guys, Know this is not the place to be posting about WoW but ive always found these forums very reliable and thought it would be the best place to do so. While playing world of warcraft i noticed flickering in specific areas (round tree shapes and waterfall bottoms). It does not happen in other games i have on my PC (oblivion etc.). It always seems to happen within a square shape. And dont know if this is related to the problem but when im MOVING, ground much ahead of me seems to flicker aswell. And btw, im running all WoW settings on MAX, using 1440x900 (widescreen) resolution. Posting a pic of what it looks like. Its getting annoying, can anyone figure out how to fix it ?

Well the obvious first suggestion is, of course, update all of your drivers (particularly your video drivers). If you did that recently and you didn't have this problem before, try rolling back one. Other than that, play with either your video control panel or WoW's in-game video options to see if you can clear it. And bah, stop posting WoW pics, I vowed never to return!! hehe :wallbash:
farhanbaig
Mhm dint update drivers so will do now. Meddled with my WoW settings but it only made other effects worse. And lol, sorry about the pics. You can run ...but it will suck you back, specially with WotLK on its way !
Vagrant0
Stuff like this is usually your videocard, It may even be that your videocard doesn't work well with whatever formats are used in wow for meshes and textures. It could even be that your videocard is malfunctioning, overheating, or worse. Try changing the settings a bit, probably those dealing with mesh/texture detail. If WoW supports LOD meshes for objects, the flickering might be caused by the geometry getting changed or handled improperly. Might also want to play with some light/shadow settings if there are any. Don't play WoW, so can't really help you much.

You can run ...but it will suck you back, specially with WotLK on its way ! Nope, I was there from launch until last year. Moved some of my guild there and I have my 70 and my flying black dragon mount. That was more than enough to make me realize that the carrot n' stick is just not worth the time it can suck away and definitely the immature brats who flood the place so I'm certain I can resist the latest expansion. :P Good luck. Michlo
Cant argue about the immature brats :( , looking forward to AOC then i presume ?And thankyou vagrant, will try that now ! Nope, mate. I started my Clan way back in Shadowbane as the fellers from work all played it. Since then we've been through: Horizons (from launch, I still miss my old Dragon, Noxuathl)Star Wars GalaxiesEVEWoWLOTRO (that reminds me, I ought to finally cancel since I've not been in for about three months! heh) I'm about burned out on MMORPGs for the time being. Parts of the concept are fun but it is still a big time consumer and a great deal of "carrot n' stick / time sinks" and eventually one has to deal with people who umm, aren't too nice (to put it politely). If one shuts off from all that then one may as well be playing a single player game! heh. I've also never had quite the Guild experience we had back in Shadowbane with our own city and people actually having a home and something to care about. Also once I treated myself to my gaming box (for my birthday) I realized I needed to get back into some of the single player games plus see how Crisis and the other "big" games were so I'm quite happy with all of that for now (plus I still have tons to do in Oblivion). Cheers.

Well I know that this will be blasphemy to some but I've never been a big fan of the Lord of the Rings stories / fantasy so I was hesitant about trying this game. My First Officer was in the beta, however as he is a "rabid" fan, heh. The beta wasn't as great as he had hoped but they greatly improved it by release. Anyway, obviously I gave it a try. I would say that if you ARE a fan then it would be an even great experience but even without that I found it to be a very pleasant world, not yet inundated with the immature (and given the content, hopefully it'll never be), gorgeous graphics and interesting stories. It also had a big "must-have" for me which is housing. WoW has been talking about that for a long while and there is still no sign of it. Of course it still has the carrot and stick idea and it isn't perfect (a fair amount of instancing for one) but if you want something you can just play leisurely, give it a try. Cheers.
