TheHavok
Hello, guys I've been trying to get Oblivion to run for the last 12 hours to little avail. Two hours ago I managed to get the game to run without crashing every 30 seconds and got all the mods I wanted working as well. Seems bethesda games hate Windows 10 (as much as they hated 7 and 8, at least). Then s*** happened. I'm not entirely sure if it was after I installed the Construction Set, the Construction Set Extender or the Fake Fullscreen .exe, but OBSE has stop running. No matter how many times I tried to reinstall it, nor which version used, it won't work. It was working before, so I'm pretty confident that something is disabling it. I have uninstalled the CS but the error persists. It happens running the launcher, launching the game from Steam or by running it from the .exe. Nothing works and I have no more clues why...Any ideas? PS: I am not able to open the steam overlay while playing the game. I guess this musn't be a coincidence, since I could a few hours ago. Thanks in advance Edited November 26, 2018 by TheHavok
DavinaJo
Let's see first off Oblivion is tech. in it last and permanate revision which means any version prior to version 0.20 of OBSE will not work with it, as to your real problem i would suspect that something overwrote something critical for OBSE in the data folder also Steam requires the version OBSE with OBSELoader/Launcher.dll without this OBSE won't run under steam it's also the reason why steam version of Oblivion with OBSE doesn't work well under Mod Organizer. beyond that I would say you need to probably do a complete redo of Oblivion reset your computer make sure the core game runs ok then reinstall OBSE and verify it's working (go into the console in game and type GetOBSEVersion ) if it returns nothing your good. after that i would suggest you add back one mod at a time and load up your game to see if there is a problem. one small question do you use LOOT to set your load order and two do you have a copy of TES4EDit to check for out of place/missing masters and i'm not referring to ESM's though they can sometimes get unchecked. Another Cavat, due to the age of the game, mods made for Oblivion, that didn't come out within the last four years will have no file structure in the archive there for will not install correctly using a modern mod manager the only solution for this unfortuantly is to download manually then extract archive fix the directory tree so it matches the following Data, followed by Meshes , Textures, etc etc , when done use 7zip or simular to create a new archive with the same name add it to your mod manager it should just install as normal. Killerbuddy
Don't know if you are still having issues or resolved anything, but OBSE needs to have the Steam Overlay in game option enabled. I would go to your library, right click on Oblivion, select Properties in the menu, and under the General tab make sure that box is checked.
