KrenianTS
Apologies if there's a thread about this but I figure that this would be the best place to ask. I've been playing Skyrim flawlessly for a little while except for the last couple of months. This is at the most what I did: installed two modsupdated my drivers. I'm using an AMD Radeon XFX 7970 video card. Here's the issue: Randomly, I will be running around and all of a sudden the game freezes. I have to alt tab and kill the process but the game simply does not respond to anything I do. Now here's where things get interesting: around the third time this happens, my screen goes dark, the monitor shuts down as if the card loses power and is no longer connected, and the PC shuts down. Now this is the only game that this is happening; everything else works fine. The heat on the cards and on the PC itself doesn't go beyond 60 at ultra settings. I have a brand new XFX 850W Power Source so it's not a question of the card dropping. I've uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled them from scratch.I uninstalled all mods and did a clean install on my PC of Skyrim. I'm still getting the same things and it's frustrating because I finally have been really enjoying Skyrim a lot lately. Ask away on what you guys need to know more about the PC. Oh right, Windows 7 64 Bit is the OS! Thanks for any advice! (The sound setting to 44.1 has been already done and tested. Still problems. Also lowering graphics does the same thing. Already had FXAA off so I doubt turning those options off will help either.)
Drax8
And another one joins our ranks. Sorry man, no one seems to know anything about this. Been researching and searching, and can't find any answers or anything that works. Until Bethesda acknowledges there is an issue and fixes it, I am afraid there is nothing we can do about it. Btw, I am having the exact same problem as you, minus the pc shutting comepletely down.

Btw, I am having the exact same problem as you, minus the pc shutting comepletely down. What I find bizarre is that it just suddenly started, no warning. Maybe a week ago at most. Was it the 1.6 patch that caused the problems? I tried downloading the HD pack and seeing if that could fix anything that crashes and still nothing. It's sad. I only got to level 25ish with my paladin type guard and the game pretty much won't let me play more than 10 minutes before crashing at some area. I practically have to save every time and hope it doesn't crash. Either way, bloody annoying and here is hoping something gets fixed soon!
zorgoth
I'm also having weird crashes, but right on launch. Just today Skyrim decides to quit on me. I don't know how or why. The only thing I did to it was add Warzones, which I quickly uninstalled through NMM. I hadn't played it all day up until that point, so its hard to tell if I did anything else that could cause it... I did try out MSI autoburner, but I uninstalled it too just to make sure. One distinguishing feature of the crash is that whenever the launcher tries to auto-detect my settings it crashes too... I can start the launcher afterwards, but every time it tries to detect settings it happens again. I don't know man. I'm stumped. Haven't tried a complete reinstall, really don't want to. I am going to try to kill NMM though, see if that's whats causing issues... I haven't really thought about 1.6 being the issue though. Haven't hand any problems before today. gsmanners
Just be happy you don't have an Xbox 360. Those guys are also seeing these problems, lately. Call me crazy, but I'm thinking it might be severe flaws in their software.
