CTD when looking to the east while in Windhelm

i spent an hour testing every mesh file i had and the offending file that kept causing ctd when i was getting too close to windhelm or looked in the wrong direction was windhelmbridge.nif. you may have to search for the file but once i deleted it windhelm no longer caused a problem.

Thank you, this saved me and this problem existed in SSE as well.

I played the game for hours and hours. Finding all little side quests and completing them. And when I reached this cursed place windhelm it kept crashing.

 

This FIX worked for me. Please follow accordingly...

1. Go to the game folder.

2. Go to data.

3. In the search tab, type windhelm.

4. Delete all the search results. REMEMBER I STRONGLY advise NOT to permanently delete those folders and files. Just delete 'em, so if things go side ways you can simply restore it from recycle bin.

Obligatory very old thread post. Thank you so much. This worked for me when every other solution didn't. I think it had something to do with a botched mod uninstall because all of the search results were created on a day that didn't match any of the mod install dates shown on my nexus. Happy new decade, friend!
