Gravatrax
After months of saving, research, and of course help from the The Nexus Forums Community, in particular Hoofhearted, Fmod, and Erik005. I defiently took all advice into consideration but at the end of day it all boiled down what I thought was right for me and research. I wouldn't say it's 100% done but it's done in the sense that I can play games at more than satisfactory level. In any case the specs;Asrock Extrem4 Z77 MotherboardIntel Core i5 3570K Processor, Not OCed....YesNVIDIA: EVGA GTX 670 FTW EditionCooler Master EVO212 HeatsinkCooler MAster HAF 932 Advanced Full ATX CaseAntex Earthwatts 500 PSU (from old rig)Some DVD drive I salvaged from my old rigWestern Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB HDD from older rigG.Skill Sniper Series 1866 Mhz Ram 8gb That's it! As far as future Upgrades go I plan to do it in this order;New PSU, A Modular Corsair TX750/850Solid State Hard Drive, atleast 128 GBBetter Heatsink, a Zalman or something of that natureAnd another 8gb of Ram (maybe) Again I want to thank the Community for all their help, and forgive me if I left out your name. I will gladly supply some benchmarking results if requested. I will be spending the majority of the time (atleast for now) playing Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Mount and Blade Warband, Civ 5, Shogun 2, and Arma 2 on this rig
hoofhearted4
very Solid PC bro! ive been planning mine for over a year, but since its my first PC i need to buy everything. monitor, keyboard, drives, etc. just cant seem to quite get the money saved up lol. but mine will be roughly the same as yours give or take... how much did it end up costing you in the end? for the heatsink, i recommend (as ive said before) the Havik 140. (will be the one i get) great cooling. very quiet. and a respectable size given how good it is. (meaning smaller then others of its caliber) ad well as a fantastic price, again compared to others in its league like the NH-D14...and for your SSD, id recommend a Crucial M4. a solid drive, and one of the cheaper ones to boot. i plan on the 64gb one myself. also the TX series of PSUs from Corsair arent modular. however the HX series is mostly modular (cept the main 24pin connector, which youd have no reason to remove anyways) and the even better AX series is completely modular (including the 24pin connector) Edited July 4, 2012 by hoofhearted4
Gravatrax
Ehh I had to do some Swipey with the Slave Card if you know what I mean on some stuff. Alright lets see here;Asrock Extrem4 Z77 Motherboard I found on ebay, some dude just opened the box that was it 120$ Intel Core i5 3570K I found on a amazon 220$ one day, cheapest I've seen itthe Nvidia EVGA GTX 670 FTW Edition Again found on ebay, wasn't even open, the seller had one of the first gen GTX 670 which had some issues so this was one was sent as a replacement and on the whole is much more reliable. 400$The G.SKill Sniper Series Ram I think I paid 62$ ForCooler MAster EVO 212 Heatsink I paid 35$The Coolermaster Case I found from a store in "china" that arrived on my door step 2 days after buying was 100$ shipped free. The Western Digital Caviar Black I actually bought a year and ahalf ago for 110$ I do believe Alright so technically...the PSU and CD Drive were free as they were hand me downs. I did get kinda burned on Pc Powering and Cooloing Turbo Cool, sorta my fault but I paid 95$ shipped, yeah yeah I know believe I am not happy about it but sometimes we go to learn the hard way. So for all intents and purposes Ill include that in my price. 1142$ Including my stupidity regarding the PSU. Yes I was thinking about the Crucial M4 seems to have the most solid reviews especially in the area of firmware which is important with SSD. I will keep that in mind regarding the NZIT. For a monitor I am just using my 27" VIZIO LED TV, it has a nice picture and serves pretty well as a monitor, not really seeing a reason to change it out. As for the PSU I am not entirely sure how wattage Im going to be looking for. I plan on OCing the core i5 to about 4.2 ghz and that'll probably be it, so perhaps something in the 650-750 watt range, regardless of what I get it needs to be quiet and cool. I am not sure about adding more Ram either, 8gb is pretty standard as it is, so I am told. Ohh my keyboard Im not using anything special. Some wireless logitech and a logitech keyboard. I do have my eyes set on the CM Storm Stryker that FMOD told me about

Thor.
Nice that you sorted everything out, Strange that you use ebay for parts though, i don't trust it just for warranty reasons
hoofhearted4
i personally would only use Newegg for PC parts. Tigerdirect is another, but still i just stick to one place. yea, i dont trust Ebay. for Return and Warranty reasons. im not so sure id even buy off Amazon. i feel like Newegg is specialized for PC parts (granted they basically sell a little of everything) i trust the reviews on Newegg. idk, i just wouldnt buy anywhere else other then Newegg (or TD if it came to that)
Gravatrax
Yes I am a little wary of it too but unfortunately I get screwed by taxes on Newegg
Gravatrax
This PSU?http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Professional-Certified-compatible-Platforms/dp/B002LVUPZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341398644&sr=8-1&keywords=hx650 How much do you think I would benefit from an additional 8gb of Ram? Erik005
I would not suggest to filling all your memory-banks, this can cause wierd problems. And 8gb is fine for almost anything, I only have 16gb because socket 2011 needs quad-channel Edited July 4, 2012 by Erik005
Saipu
8GB of RAM will do you fine because in reality 4GB works just as well. It's just that the price difference between these two are like what, 10-20 bucks? Hardly makes a difference in the long run. I'd suggest you invest in top-quality peripherals, most important a good chair. This is something that so many people overlook. The last thing you want is a chair that makes your back crooked etc.
