andyfed83
I'm sure this has been asked a zillion times, but is there any way or any time Vortex, or a comparable mod manager, will be available for Linux? I mean, natively. I'll settle for a version that will work on Wine even... Supposedly some people have gotten it to "work," but it sounds like a real hassle... rmm200
I would have said pipe dream, but Tannin says it is something he is interested in doing.Me - I think it will be quite awhile. He has his hands full.
andyfed83
Well, hopefully somebody with more coding experience than me will be able to do it....
CptArcher1
I would love to see Vortex work on Linux (Even non-natively) I just made the switch (about 95% switch) From Windows to Linux, and am liking the performance boost so far. rmm200
From what I have read in this forum, Vortex is very close to running under Wine on Linux. Just missing a .net bit. With Wine, all the Vortex bundled libraries - just work.
zixi
I had Vortex running on Linux for some time and it was stable but then I did a very very very silly thing. I let it update. Everything fell apart so after a lot of soul searching I moved to Mod Organizer 2. It wasn't the first time I'd done that very stupid thing so I ought to have known better but I can never resist the challenge. The Linux version of MO2 is being supported by bits of the Linux community and it's stable. MO2 won't win any prizes in a beauty contest but it does the job. I kind of like its foibles and I kind of like the fact that it's very plain. It doesn't actually want to do anything other than mod my game and actually I kind of like that too. However, *if* Vortex became all Linux-friendly then I'd shift... just because... @CaptArcher1 - as you settle in, you'll see just what Linux can do and then, after a bit, you'll forget all about there being an OS because Linux doesn't constantly shout in your face about being an OS - it just quietly does its job... I hope you continue to be impressed and enjoy!
