sweathawgs
I like to think I have a decently powerful system. When I'm not getting stuttering, my fps, on Ultra (with RCRN 3 Installed) maintains around 60 or above. In Solitude, my fps is 45-60 on average. When it stutters, 14-27 The stuttering is not only video, but audio as well, which sounds choppy, slow, and distorted; like someone speaking slowly into a fan. The stuttering happens whenever I enter a new space or cell. In Solitude, things were buttery smooth until I decided to enter Radiant Raiment, where the lag occurred for about 5 seconds, then stopped and was smooth again. The lag cropped up again when I went outside, and didn't stop for a few minutes until I quit the game. Screen tearing also seemed to occur towards the end, and artifacts too, while I was jumping around and heading for the main gate. This lag has been going on for sometime, and didn't seem to go away even when uninstalling RCRN and other graphics mods, such as the HD texture packs. I recently did a fresh install of the game, cutting back on how many mods I had installed and removing custom texture packs; it, of course, didn't fix my issue. I've read that borderless window with AutoHotkey fixes microstutter. Last time I recorded the fps in Solitude with fraps, using that borderless window, I experienced the same problem. :wallbash: CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GhzRAM: 8GBGPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 TiWindows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium Please help. This stuttering is hell and makes Skyrim almost unplayable. I'm desperate, and have actually resorted to using my Xbox just to play Skyrim. :( _-_ Edited July 4, 2012 by sweathawgs
sweathawgs
I've narrowed it down to a problem with my SkyrimPrefs.ini After playing, if I experience the lag (I always do; if I enter and leave a building it crops up) Steam always updates Skyrim, and it seems to be updating that file. I've checked using the "date modified" information. PLEASE HELP Is there perhaps a custom ini file I can use? What is causing it to constantly update?! xoen
i have feeling i know which type of problem this is, and i am having it too(sometimes). ...only way i found to fix it is leaving any open program on desktop(i.e. notepad) while playing skyrim, when problem occurs, ALT-TAB twice.magically, slow-stutter is gone then.not especially nice method, but..works for me. on the other hand, you may read this topic:http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/633229-less-ctds-maybe-none/scroll down a bit(as beginning of topic may be misleading and a bit OT), there's interesting info about load/activate loaded data delay, that may help(need to check this, too). Jupitus
I have been getting the same problem recently, it happens whenever I enter an exterior cell, interior cells I have no problem with. If i exit to main menu/reload a game it doesnt help only after exiting to desktop and restarting does it temporarily fix it. I thought that maybe I was having a hardware problem as my video card has been running hot but now I am thinking that it has to do with the 1.6 patch. I am currently reinstalling the game from steam in hopes of a remedy, if I find a solution I will post it.

But it's a temorary solution, and can be a bit of a hassle. :( I've reinstalled before as well, though it didn't fix anything. Be sure to remove your SkyrimPrefs.ini, Steam doesn't remove that I'm fairly sure. Thanks for your responses fellas. Hope we can get this sorted out and find a permanent fix. sweathawgs
bump Tried jumping back onto Skyrim, wanted to play a new dremora, but... I'm STILL experiencing this problem! I get it when I enter certain places, (Radiant Raiment and Jarl's Quarters in Dragonsreach are sure fire locations) and only when looking in a particular direction. I can look away from that spot, and the game's smooth as silk. But when I look back, it's super slow stuttering, and all the audio on my compy lags. I tried disabling Vert Sync recently, (idk why, didn't do anything) PLEASE! Someone, anyone with insight, or similar problems, any help at all is greatly appreciated. sweathawgs
bump, again. Been a whole year and still having this problem. Someone out there should be able to look this over and get a fix. I'm kicking myself over here.
