pwnedbyscope
I have an ASUS g73sw which has 8gb DDR3 stock, it is two four gig sticks, and the board itself has room for four (4) sticks, does anyone know if it can actually support more than the 8 already in, and if so, what the actual sticks are in it so i can match with the new ones
hoofhearted4
first off. there is no need to put in more then 8gb into your laptop. 8gb as it is, is overkill atm. unless you wanna run tons of VMs with applications running in each, then you dont need more then 8gb. it wont do anything. it wont make anything faster. you wont notice it. that said, to answer your question, you can put RAM into each slot. with desktop boards, you can put 8gb into each for a max of 32gb RAM (assuming 4 slots). i do not know if laptops support the same, but if anything, i wouldnt put more then 4gb into each slot. esp since you have a relatively cheap laptop, i wouldnt be surprised if it couldnt support 8gb dimms period, whether you wanted to or not. which means you could only pop in 16bg max (assuming im right). as for matching, either A) look at the little sticker thats on the RAM sticks and buy more of that, or B) buy 16gb RAM all together so you know they match. Erik005
Are the free slots near the other ones? If not they are under the keyboard and you will loose warranty when you remove it.
