eternallydissolved
i am getting non random ctd's. once i find one, i can recreate the ctd as desired. ive enabled logging in skyrim.ini and it does not generate a log. its almost like the game has put invisible graphical holes in the game and if i fall into one it, ctd. the game is becoming unplayable at this point. system specsamd1090t black edition 3.2ghz 6 core processor12gb gskill ddr3 10700-asrock 890fx deluxe 4 socket AM3saphire radeon 6950 2gb (videobios modded to unlock additional shaders as this card shares the same mainboard with the 6970)500 gb western digital 7200 sata 3 os/skyrim install drivewd 1.4 and 2.0tb hd's @5400 rpmsilverstone op800 psuantec 600 cpu case with every cooling fan slot filled and activecoolermaster v6 cpu cooler in push/pull configuration venting out the top 200mm exhaust fan this video card has a switchable bios and i have had same issues on the unmodded video bios. i would say it could be a mod issue, except for it didnt show up until updating to 1.6. furthermore i downgraded back to the previous version which worked with my many many mods and started a new gameand it showed up as soon as i started to expand outside of whiterun! there is one such invisible trap right by the western watch tower and many many more. i wonder if this could be whats happening to a lot of people having this issue. im ridiculous when it comesto saving doing so roughly every 5 minutes or after doing anything i want to keep on the file, like slaughtering a bunch of imperial soldiers or something. at first when this cropped up, i thought they were random too until hitting one of them 3 seconds after saving, and upon reload and heading where i was going, it repeated. i went back to some of my old saves where i could remember what i was doing when it ctds and they are also all repeatable. ive made a few other ini changes suggested in the nexus forums and nothing has worked. it almost appears that the area data is damaged, also this only crashes out in the wild, never in a dungeon or town. mod list will take a little while to compile since i cant copy and paste from the skyrim launcher but the only mods of significance are ufocastle dragoncliff\lorecraftberts breeze home cellarwarzones civil unrestthe rest are addin weapons or the powerbooksit honestly makes no sense, and the only mods ive added after the upgrade were random weapons i liked and they were all stand alone. i added ufo and warzones a day or 2 bnefore upgrading. they worked then. man my head is starting to hurt, any help would be appreciated as if i keep banging my head against thye desk, ill end up wiht a concussion eventually.......lol-james-
insanityz
Im having the exact same issue i dont think its even mod related i completely reinstalled the game from scratch 0 mods no hd dlc nothing and i still get the same issue once i ctd i can go into any save go to the same spot and i will ctd i dont crash anywhere else either its just those random spots i usually play on ultra settings and run about 80-100 fps i tried lowering the graphics and it still ctd's in the same spot no matter what so i dont think its a mod or graphic settings issue i think patch 1.6 just messed something up =[
tetradite
I had this initially with patch 1.6 (or maybe even just 1.6 when it was in beta, I can't recall), but it disappeared fairly quickly and hasn't resurfaced since. My current version is 1.6.89.0.6, which is AFAIK the latest as I can't stop Steam auto-updating even when I try to. Are you definitely updated to this version? (go to system in your pause menu if you don't know where to find it)

I was playing a vanilla game when Steam updated me, so I don't think its a mod. I have used a couple mods before, but I do have Plain Jane never-had-a-mod-installed vanilla saves to test with. Can I ask what general tweaks you had in your ini files? I'll try backing out the ones we have in common, if any, and see if I can find which ones are causing this. Damn I hate Steam. eternallydissolved
data file enable was the only tweak i pout in prior to troubleshooting this issue. and yes i was updated to the latest patch 1.6.89.0.6. i downgraded back to the previous patch and started a new, clean game and still ran into those ctd's in the exact same places. so the source is something that was upgraded in patch 1.6.89.06 which remained even after downgrading back to patch 1.5 i think it may have something to do with graphical changes associated with horseback combat or one of the other features changed within the update. however considering that it occurs on foot or in whirlwind sprint, it seems associated with the map data, or area data where the ctd holes are encountered. i wonder if the corruption is different per install, or if its exact across the board. if it is, then we may be able to trace down a specific issue to submit to bethesda, or one of the more talented programmers on the nexus may be able to come up with a work around. being that they are in static locations, i think its something corrupted, and since the graphics are the only thing in constant motion as your moving around in skyrim, it seems the most logical thing to look at first. Lord Garon
Well, I renamed my skyrim.ini and let the game create a new one. I could not induce the CTD I had been getting around the alchemist camp by Evergreen Grove. Trouble is, I then restored the "broken" ini file to keep troubleshooting and now it won't crash at Evergreen Grove, either. How did you revert back to 1.5? Do you have copies of the update.esm and bsa files? I'm having Oblivion flashbacks now; Oblivion had some crashes due to bad spawn scripts and would not crash every time a cell loaded, only when a broken mob was spawned. Running on the game created ini, I am also experiencing some other issues that I have never seen before: I will ready my hands (my character is a mage) but I cannot cast a spell for several seconds; the game just doesn't respond to mouse clicks. But I can still move. It clears up after 10-15 seconds. Some characters in Winterhold College stop talking at different points in the dialogue. No mouth animations, no sound. Temporarily "stuck" animations; I'll jump off a rock and my character lands but the jump animation persists for some time. It also clears up. They are annoyances, except for the mouse click problem; that one can be fatal.

For the person who was able to fix crashes with deleting the INI files, did you change your uGridstoLoad originally? If you have a save with that implemented, you're going to have to adjust your new INI files to load it properly.
