sopmac45
Hi cptmrcalm .... installing mods manually is another option and I understand your point. Good idea not to switch anything from NMM. Were you able to fix your issue ?
cptmrcalm
i tried to upload an image of the error message. A quick google search shows this: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6865347-vortex-0155-doesnt-install-any-mod-files-gives-an-error-on-ever-mod/ seems that's what I am getting with the latest build. Ran out of time tonight to read through properly but it looks like vortex might be broken.
cptmrcalm
I've noticed too that dragging and dropping mods into vortex is a bit of a nightmare. It seems that there are intermittent error messages when doing that. Invalid installation file or "cant find file" messages. I could fix this by changing the settings so that I move the download link away from the c drive onto where I am storing my mods I guess -but I like to keep a default library of mods to look after. Mainly for once mods are cleaned within the Vortex's own mod installation directory. Its nice to have those original mods separate. I could also just leave the mods in the downloads directory. But it would mean having the original copy of the mod, a copy of that in the downloads directory and then of course a copy of the mod installed in vortex's own mod directory. It's a shame that vortex doesnt know where you've dragged the file from and wants to use the download directory instead. I should just quickly add - I am not trying to hate on vortex. Its a great tool and the interface is a delight to use. I send these messages from a constructive point of view in the hope to help. At the end of the day, I am someone of average intelligence (thats probably being a little generous! lol). So if I can run it without issues - then I am sure 99% of users will be fine! lol. I can read. Yes. I have looked into the docs. I think updating Vortex mid way through modding skyrim vr and having messed around with uninstalling it has left a mess behind when starting over. I dont want to wipe everything as i have skyrim se installed with vortex fully working. That process was a breeze and has been stable for well over 10 hours now. cptmrcalm
Quick update.I downloaded another update for vortex (That happened to come along) and decided to start over. Deleted EVERYTHING... including vortex and reinstalled. Now everything seems to be working. I dont know - a mess of updating mid way through (notes for devs there) and deleteing downloaded files. Its far too messy to be able to give an accurate bug report. So for now, all is well. I thank all of you who took the time to read my dribble. I would also like to say again that its a great tool and I only reported this in the hope to improve things not as a moaner when things go wrong.
