First-time modder's problem

I Recently completed my first standalone armor retexture, and now I'm trying to remodel the armor to fit the cbbe body. However, remodeling is not quite as simple as changing two textures, and I'm having a slight problem.

Before anyone asks, I blurred parts of the image to make focal points for one to look at what I'm doing

So first I load up my .nif file into Nifskope and export it as a .obj for use in blender.

Please take note that I have the NiTriShapeData block selected, so it will only export the mesh.

Then, I import the .obj into blender for some edits

I did not do anything to the material, uv map, or anything that isn't the mesh.

I moved a few vertices around, rotated a few pieces of the armor and deleted a few parts of it.

No changes to any UV mapping or textures, just touched the vertices a little

After completing my edits, I proceed to export the .obj

And then back to Nifskope, I import the edited .obj model

please note that when importing, NifSkope does not allow importing into the NiTriShapeData block, so I was forced to import the mesh into the parent block.

When suddenly

Error!

Also, after importing, the imported mesh looks nothing like what was in blender.

Now that you saw my whole procedure, can someone please shed some light on what went wrong in my remodel?

Have you tried importing and Exporting the armor into and out of blender in NIF format? (Just a guess) but I think the translation to and from OBJ format may be twisting your mesh up a bit. keep in mind that modding tools like blender and Nifskope haven't been completely adapted to Skyrim yet, and as a result a lot of data gets unintentionally twisted around by the software during modding.

In your case this problem its having a detrimental effect as the "NiTriShapeData" is a significant part of what shapes your mesh and as you say, its not importing correctly.

check what version of blender you are using and see if the Blender Nif scripts on the NIF Tools Wiki are compatible.

ATM they don't really support skyrim, but they should allow you to import NIF's directly into blender.
