Weirdest issue ever experienced while playing Fallout 4

After months without playing, I wanted to experience Fallout 4 again. Downloaded. Tested. Starting to mod. Tested again. Worked like a charm (well, Bethesda-style charm). THEN it happed. It started like 3 days ago or so.

Here's the issue:

I'm experiencing HUGE fps drops and freezing ONLY when I enter in combat. It all started in a city area around Boston, not sure about the exact location. I entered in combat and my game froze for seconds. I thought it was a crash but no, it started "working" again, but it was't the same game anymore. From that point, no matter what, no matter where, when I engage someone in combat my game have fps drops, micro freezes and stutter.

Changing weapons is a nightmare, turning around is a nightmare, shooting and aiming guess what. Nightmare. The whole game is f***ed.

I've been trying to look the web and to fix it myself uninstalling mods, reloading saves, checking game cache, but nothing helped.

Even more weird.

It seems to be almost a save related thing. I reloaded a previous character I made in 2015 and with THE SAME installed mods I'm not experiencing this issue. HOWEVER, it seems that the more I play with it the more it starts to appear.

I did the same with my newest character. I just reloaded a 3hrs earlier save and started from that point. I wasn't noticing anything weird. Then in an hour or so of gameplay the issue was back.

I'm totally baffled and clueless about what's going on. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

I can upload the video to show you guys the issue, but I think I'll do if someone's really interested about this.

Before you even ask, here's my main pc specs: i7 8700k, GTX1080Ti, 32Gigs ram

- LITTLE UPDATE: I just uninstalled like 50 mods and tested. Made 0 difference. Planning to go ahead uninstalling other mods and try to go as close to Vanilla as possible.

I have this issue on very rare occasions. Has to do with the mods installed. Some areas become completely unplayable. Restart the game and all is well. Same issue?

If by "restart the game" you mean close the game and reopen it, I've restarted the game and tried MANY different solutions a lot of times. No matter what I do or where I'm fighting, beyond a certain point it really seems to have affected my whole character saves. I guess I'll upload the videos to show you the issue, if you're interested.

UPDATE

there you go, here's a short clip of the issue, I'm uploading the longer version too.

And, here's the longer clip.

Oh that's definitely not the same. With me the lag is far worse. It doesn't stutter, it's constant. Like the game runs at 1% of its speed. Even the game menu responds this slow.

So are you saying it's the save game itself that has this issue? It's not after playing x amount of time?

I'm not sure man, this was a new character I've started a couple of weeks ago and it seems the issue doesn't affect my old level 92 character, it's showing only on this for now and it started all of a sudden after a big freeze. I REALLY hope it doesn't happen after a certain amount of time because it would make the game 100% unplayable for me

Hell, that's silky-smooth compared to how the game used to run for me on Xbox, in East Boston or in the sewers. That one sewer near DC? I was getting like 1fps the entire time i was trying to do that quest - I made the mistake of bringing a companion, and the game itself warns you not to (right at the beginning, you find a note that says "come alone") - Bethesda even knew their game ran crappy and had to warn us!

But seriously, what did those folks in far harbor ever do to you, anyway? Sure, their lazy bastiches that want you to do all the work for them, but doesn't that describe EVERYONE in this game?

Personally, its sounds like memory-leakage due to some bad code. I suppose a mod could do that, but its unlikely. Something is running and NOT releasing assets back to the computer when its done with them. Or something going on in the background (computer-but-not-game-related) that you are unaware of. The other day my game stared running worse than that. After I finally called it quits, it turned out HP was trying to install an update for my printer the whole time.

Could be a mod breaking your game...

The game does have a memory leak issue, but it's more apparant if you run a lot of mods. However that wouldn't explain the stutter and the fluid play between the lags. So in all honesty I don't think that is the issue.

Have you installed or uninstalled mods from this save recently? You could always try a clean install, but if it's in the save then there's not much to do. Although I do remember a save "cleaner" that was available for skyrim that cleaned up save games with missing mods.

And I don't think it's good to try and compare a PC to a console. All Bethesda games run shitty on consoles.

I'm sorry to hear you have worse issues on Xbox, but we are talking pc here.

I've always played with tons of mods since Fallout 3 and this is the very first time something like this happens to me and, I repeat, it really seems it happened on this playthrough ONLY as it doesn't affect other characters I have.

Final thing, I'm not a computer scientist but I think I have enough experience to tell that none of my background processes is interfering with the game.

I've already tried to uninstall 50+ mods, I didn't touch stuff like AWKCR and mods that require a careful install. I've got rid of the beefy ones like gigabytes of textures, new areas, weapons and stuff like that but it made no difference. I've also tried to start the game with no active plugins. No difference. I've also tried to uninstall my game and reinstall it. No difference.

The only thing that made a difference was starting a new game. I've already surpassed the level I was on the "glitchy" character and the game is smooth as silk (well, Bethesdasmooth). Never had a stutter nor fps loss or freeze though I'm still f***ing scared it could happen at any time and ruin my game again. I really hope not.
