Fallout New Vegas will not load into game after installing mods?

I recently got Fallout: New Vegas and thought it would be a good idea to put some mods on it. I looked through the mods and chose a random one and installed it using Vortex (Bummer Co. Weapons to be specific). Well I downloaded it, installed it, and enabled it on Vortex. I hit continue on my save and it is stuck on the loading screen (you know, the one with the roulette wheel). So I didn't know what to do. Here are the steps I took.

  1. Restarted computer and tried loading in again -- stuck on load screen
  2. Disabled mod, restarted computer, tried loading in again -- stuck on load screen
  3. Uninstalled mod, removed from vortex (which I assume to be the same as deleting?) and restarted computer -- stuck on load screen

I am new to modding and computers aren't exactly my strong suit; which probably explains why I couldn't find a good solution to this. Would appreciate the help! And just a recap; Vortex shows that there are no mods right now at all, but I am still getting stuck on the load screen. It was working perfectly fine before, and I would love to be able to know what I did wrong so I can eventually fix it and hopefully be skilled enough to do Fallout New California.

Do you have a Steam version of Fallout NV? If so, go to Steam to verify the integrity of your game files. I have no idea if that will help, but it's a place to start.

Okay, I did this and it said that 1 File failed to verify and will be reacquired. (sorry I took a while to respond, finals week)
