Hoamaii
@ Zinthros: 230 ... that may be difficult. Hehe, yeah I know... But somehow when I read posts here, I get very proud of my old 230, it may not allow me fancy graphic tweakings, but it's got me through some 300 hours of gaming without too many hiccups... it's a good little fighter!.. I'm amazed that you're managing to play on a laptop though, haven't tried that yet. I'd love to be able to use DoF tho' as I'm trying to do a video clip - but actually DoF is not my main concern at the moment, you wouldn't know of a way to toggle the camera free from the horse when your character is riding by the way? Cheers, Zinthros
Zinthros
The command tfc should do it, but I haven't actually tested it. Anyway, let me know if ENB works out on the 230. Though I'd say recording might be the bigger hurdle, since that makes a serious cut to fps in most games. The only issue with tfc is that the controls get switched out for camera movement.Cheers. Hoamaii
@Zinthros: yeah, tfc works in every occasion other than when riding a horse, controls don't get switched off the horse and it moves with the camera (interesting when you're flying over Solitude!..) Haven't found a decent way to film horse rides yet... And yeah, I know it seriously cuts down fps but I'm sort of stubborn  Sure, I'll let you know when I try ENB. Cheers to you! NorthernIv
I have had Skyrim on the PC since release, and I have found that I spend waaaaaaaaaaay more time looking for mods than playing the actual game. I'm not too interested in all those anime - skimpy armor mods, or those ENB effects that make the game look crazy - i'm just interested in content. If it can keep me playing without distractions such as " oh look at that texture, doesn't seem too good...hmmm...Maybe i'll go install another mod." I think I have spent much more time looking for mods than actually playing the game.I have the same problem as you, its like i want to have a perfect play-through or something... I also enjoy watching people playing more than playing myself or something.
Veltoss
I have the same problem.. weeks now I've been messing with mods trying to make my game look absolutely perfect and work just the way I want.. and finally as I got close to being ready to actually start playing the game and stop fixing things that were broken, I realized I can change the mods I have to even better fit my needs.. I spent my evening retexturing a new mount just so it would perfectly match the armor mod I got, for example. I don't think I will ever actually play the game at this rate...
Hoamaii
Ah, recently, that question of PC versus console sort of became a dilemna... On PC, there are a few mods that truly changed my experience and that I could not imagine playing without now. Not even graphic mods but "simple" mods that add content or enhance AI. If I was to pick only 5, I'd keep some crafting and armor mods (35th Nightingale comes to mind, or Cloaks of Skyrim) that are so much nicer than the bulky Vanilla armors, Amazing Follower Tweaks that lets me ride around with my followers (reverting to having them run behind my horse would seem so... unreal) and teach them skills (followers healing my character in combat, reverting to dual-weapon or leveling up their sneaking perks with me finally gives them some substance, just like Followers Can Relax does)... And at least one house mod since all my Vanilla houses are buggy as hell. Then there are the even "smaller" ones that make a huge difference, like "No more blocky faces", "Unlimited Bookshelves" or the brilliantly clever "Follower Map Marker"... What makes PC fun to me is modding - and nothing else. Because honestly, I find the PC version of the game far less stable than my PS3 version. Sure I had lags, and some crashes, and a fair share of quest bugs on PS3, and loading screens took like forever (long enough to go get myself a coffee or make a quick phone call!), but at least I could PLAY... On PC, I have to cope with CTBs, CTDs, cells not loading properly (on top of the same quest bugs of course), constantly verifying integrity of cache, and tweaking my settings again when Steam keeps resetting them to high despite my GPU being completely unable to deal with that!.. Not to mention Steam forced updates (I'm not sure yet that patch 1.6 was a good deal altogether...). I'm not bitching, honest! I love that game which, like most Bethesda's games, is one of the most brilliant and complex ones ever marketed. It's just that it's quite a heavy price to pay in order to play it properly on PC. And if you're not perfectly familiar with your machine's hidden "secrets", forget it!.. Actually, I think we could add a perk tree to playing Skyrim on PC, that we could call the "PC Arcane" perk... But when I CTD 3 times a day for absolutely no apparent reason at all and I read in these threads "remove all your mods and start a fresh new game" - I feel like, come on, if I gotta remove all my mods and have my follower sweat behind my horse again (what kind of Dohvakiin would accumulate 400,000 pieces of gold and NOT grant his follower a horse?!), I'm going back to my old PS3!.. Ah, but on PC, I also have console commands that help me get around quest bugs too... Sigh... Yeah, dilemna, complete dilemna...
chocklymon
I have to agree that I end up spending more time moding/looking for mods/making mods than I do playing the game. Though I find half my enjoyment from the game comes from shaping it to my taste and mood at the moment and looking at how other people have changed and added to it (though I always play through it at least once as the developers intended with no mods installed). I also like that I can hook up my XBox 360 controller, lay back on the couch and play it just like I would any other console game (only with better graphics). kevkiev
Was reminded today why I sympathize with peeps playing non-PC. (All the power to ya though.) Got a book quest from the college orc guy that sent me to High Gate Ruins. But I'd been there before and had killed Vokun, which triggered the gates to the antechamber behind the throne room to open. But they were closed when I returned for the book quest. Ended up resurrecting Vokun via console so I could kill him again. Coulda TCL'd through the gates as well I suppose, but where's the fun in that. Afaik, the only way to have completed that radiant quest on xbox or ps3 was to follow a youtube vid which involves some tricky jumping to the ledge by the exit from that room, eventually fus-do-rahing a companion right through another closed gate, and getting them to activate the pull chain thingy. (Good lord.) And that wasn't the first, second, third or... even... etc. time that I've had to rely on console commands to overcome one of skyrim's odd little quirks. SirTalbot
I'm an absolute addict when it comes to searching through the mods (apart from the skimpy female/hentai/anime stuff). That's half the fun.
