Need Help with long loading times on modded Morrowind

Just finished installing all the mods i wanted for Morrowind (GOTY from GOG). Now i am encountering insane loading times.

When i launch Morrowind via the Morrowind Mod Organiser the games takes literally 10 minutes to start. then it takes another few minutes to load my save, when i die i need to wait 3 or 4 minutes for my save to load.

i installed all the mods from the Morrowind Graphics Guide on Nexus Mods: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Morrowind_graphics_guide

i followed the guide very carefully. When the game finally loads it looks amazing and runs well and there doesn't seem to be any problem with my load order. has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix it?

Here are my speccs: I7 Laptop, Windows 8.1, 64 bit. Intel HD 5500 graphics

That seems really off the wall........ Have you tried turning off your antivirus, see if that makes any difference?

 

Also, what HDD do you have in your machine. Laptops tend to come with 5400 RPM drives, which are slow. If it is a larger drive, greater than 700gb or so, they are even worse. The Toshiba, and HGST drives are friggin' HORRID. (lets not even talk about the Hitachi drives.......)

 

Might consider upgrading to a solid state drive. The performance improvement is incredible.
