I give up...need help

Happened a year ago. so i was playing modded skyrim fine when i suddenly crash. As i continued to search the problem i started getting more problems than answers. Now i'm in a position i never thought i'd be in. Being with this game since release made me think that i would have all the answers. I searched all over google since then to no avail.

 

Crashes happen when:

 

1. I load any save.(usually afer reaching Riverwood)

 

2. During certain conversations. (After the Jarl of Whiterun says "Iraleth, send a dispachment to Riverwood at once" = ctd. And when Iraleth tells the guards in Whiterun to go, after the guard's last sentence = crash)

 

3. While playing outside cities after a few min, ctd upon opening any menu.

 

4. Inside certain dungeons and when opening the elderscroll on the purthomax quest.

Since then i never bothered beating the game (did on console) or doing any dlcs but i still have hope that the day willl come when i can finally play the game fully. Will you help me?

Oh and i do use LOOT and TESVedit.

Check FNIS and see how many animations are being reported. Over a certain amount it will cause instability and ctds. I had this problem for awhile and finally figured out a way around it.

 

The ctd after the Jarl talks to Iraleth used to happen to me as well. If I remember how I fixed it, I'll let you know.

 

Do you use LOOT, TESVEdit, or Wryebash? You should if you don't.

 

When you can't get a quick fix or information on a particular problem, the best thing to do is start a new game with all mods turned off. Then slowly turn them on in groups of 4 or 5 and test until you find the mod that's giving you problems. Don't automatically assume that there is something wrong with the mod though- it is usually a conflict that you need to patch if you can.

The thing is that it will take ages to go through one mode at a time especially when i have mods that are as big as 700 mb and on an HDD will take forever to do.

Are you using ENBoost?

 

Are you using skse memory patch?

 

Are you using Safety Load?

 

I ask because your symptoms are like a modded game without them.

 

To give you an example, my game will run for about 10 seconds without the memory patch. If my character moves less.

Without ENBoost I can only save indoors without any NPCs around. I can't go near Whiterun at certain times in the day. It goes on and on.

 

You don't have much vram. You don't have enough to support mods like ApachiiHair, KS Hairdos, Tera Armors without an unstable game.

I tested this using followers and summoning them. At the time they all used Tera Armors and both hairs. I found that I could summon 4 without issue but 5 was an instant CTD. Also if 2 or more NPCs enter the cell with 4 followers CTD as well.

 

What I did to fix the problem until I could get more vram was too:

 

1) Use a custom race for my character that have loose files and turn all NPCs back to vanilla(removed CBBE). I use Temptress Race, Succubus Race and MilkyGirl Race (warrior only). With loose files you can change the textures and body type to whatever you want.

2) Keep vanilla armors vanilla. SpiceGear is not a bad choice since it uses vanilla textures.

3) Keep custom armors out of the level lists.

4] Don't use the HighResTexturePac. This is the laziest pack I have ever seen. If a vanilla texture bothers you download a loose file pack and add that texture manually.

5)Keep vanilla eyes vanilla. Eyes can add up. For my characters eyes and follower eyes I used 512 X 512 textures. For NPCs I used 128 X 128 textures. With 4gbs vram you can go 1024 X 1024 eyes on your character.

6) Body texture packs are not created equal. Some body textures weigh in at 68mbs but look about the same in game as textures that at 3mbs. I like and us SG Female Textures Renewal and Mature skin. No silly sizes at all. I download them manually and add the textures I like to my character and followers. It also helps to use a DDS viewer. The Idea is to keep the good stuff for you and your followers and the rest of the game as close to vanilla as possible.

 

Also keep your fun under ground. The biggest cause in my game for CTDs are NPCs. I use mods like Forgotten Dungeons to add more places to go and use mods like Populated Dungeons Caves Ruins to add more NPCs to them. Keeping battles out of the main game world is the way to go until you get more vram.

Thx for the help but i sadly decided to go for the reset way and reinstalled skyrim to vanilla and honestly it was the best choice i have ever made. I have about half my mods installed with enb and it's running smoother than i have ever seen since i first played years ago and I'm so happy. I had lots of enb problems i didn't noticed before but i still got half my mods to install before I celebrate. Hopefully it all goes well or i could at least identify the source of my problems. Though i will take into consideration your points.
