AeonsLegend
So, I'm wondering how this works. It seems my Power Armor's radiation resistance doesn't work properly. I go to the glowing sea to test and this is the result. (I have a mod installed for more damage, but this also works with swimming in water) Nude: 24 rad damage with 0 rad resistNormal clothing: 9 rad damage with 40 rad resistHazmat suit < 1 rad damage with 1000 rad resistPA lead plating: 2 rad damage with 1650 rad resist Does the armor of PA not provide the full resistance? AeonsLegend
Wait, no one has this issue? Are you serious?
yuser
Try to remove modifications that increase radiation resistance of PA. Try other PA. This is for the start, just to narrow the circle of suspects.
AeonsLegend
It's with all PA. Any mod to the PA's and with and without Fallout mods. It's just an issue allround with PA's in Fallout 4. I've has this issue since the game has been released and I find it extremely strange I am the only one that noticed this. I've played on multiple PC's with multiple fresh installations as well. yuser
It is strange. I never experienced this. Even more, the difference with default PA and with lead plating is very noticeable. For example many locations from the South of the Sea (SOTS) mod actually are available only with power armor (and with lead plating).
AeonsLegend
Well PA is better than going nude, but it's not as good as Hazmat Suit. Could it be that the max is 1000 rad resist and that the formula is broken in that it goes back up over 1000. For instance 1300 rad resist would equate to 700 rad resist? AeonsLegend
In my hazmat suit I always get <1 rad damage so there is no other comparison. I take close to no damage in the worst parts of the glowing sea. Here's someone else with the same issue so it's not just me: https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3zxznn/rad_resistance_and_power_armor_bugged/ Multiple people confirming this issue. No solution. Seems the PA rad resist is simply bugged. Many people don't use a hazmat suit, you may be one of those. Did you try and see the difference between PA and HS? I'm sure you will be surprised. yuser
Yes, I used both and didn't notice any differences in radiation resistance. I mentioned South of the Sea because it adds some areas with very, VERY high radiation level. So first time I tried to enter one of these locations with PA and energy resistance mods (as usual). And it turned out that 1050 is not sufficient. So I returned back with lead plating and the difference was noticeable. EDIT: tested in game and... you are right! Just armor, rad resist 240: ~15 rad/sT-60 without lead plating, rad resist 1050: ~8 rad/sT-60 with lead plating, rad resist 1600: ~5-6 rad/sHazmat suit, rad resist 1000: <1 rad/s Checked them in FO4Edit: they have absolutely the same resistance type: dtRadiationExposure, I didn't find any fundamental differences in radiation resistance between hazmat suit and PA. Game incorrectly calculates resistance higher than 1000? But my character has "natural" radiation resistance 200 (from Unbogus Perks), so with hazmat suit it goes above 1000 too... AeonsLegend
Hazmat suit has another setting. Check it in FO4edit. I did this yesterday and found this missing from other clothing and wearables. It's the single difference between Hazmat Suit and Damaged Hazmat Suit: EITM - Object Effect: EnchPA_HazmatRadReduction "Hazmat Suit" [ENCH:0014EF47] The damage resistance alone isn't what's making the Hazmat Suit so good. It's this effect above. Perhaps they wanted PA to not be air/water proof and as such the Rads get in at a minimum level of 2 rad damage per sec. So botom line. You want protection vs rads, go with Hazmat suit, there is no better option. Edited December 17, 2018 by AeonsLegend
