CTD/lockup when reaching a certain point

Hi,

I realize that Im probably the 9001st guy with problems like these, but I found myself unable to advance in Skyrim as it keeps crashing whenever I try to advance the main quest by getting near Kynesgrove / the dragon burial site. Ive managed to actually GET to the dragon and kill it once but skyrim crashed right after the following conversation.....

Also, I cant load any quicksaves that Ive done in the area.

Heres whats in the logs on a CTD:

seeing as theres quite the number of errors that do not make it crash just yet, I figure one of the last errors must be the culprit.

Any ideas? Im not saying this to pressure anyone to respond, but merely to make a statement: Im really fed up with all the crashing in Skyrim and will probably give up playing it if theres nothing that can be done about it.

The Meadery in Riften was such a crash prone area too, but I only seem to be getting crashes there if a dragon attack (so like... every other fast travel attempt...)

PS: logs upon trying to load a savegame saved in that area:

What worked for me was deleting my Skyrim.ini and SkyriPref.ini files--the updates to 1.6 basically broke the adjustments I'd made. Let the game recreate them and make the necessary uGridstoload adjustment.

Try that--it's easy, since if it doesn't help, you can always restore the files.

oh yea damn I forgot to mention that. I had seen that suggestion elsewhere already and sadly it didnt help. also Im having my uGridsToLoad set to 9 because Ive found that anything below 8 makes skyrim crash instantly when trying to load any safegame / new game.

thanks for the suggestion tho :)

Try to leave the area before the quest finishes... maybe even use the console. Just a shot. I've noticed that cells that CTD get fixed when I fast travel to them. Your problem sounds like more of a script or quest bug, but it's worth a shot. Could be one of your mods too.

wanted to try your idea. took me about 15 tries to actually GET to kynesgrove without crashing to be able to quick travel from and back to kynesgrove (which worked fine from then on). then I kept trying to physically GET to the dragon, crashed a couple of times. then tried switching down to medium textures, which somehow prevented the game from crashing I guess (despite the log still listing the aforementioned errors) so I could get through the event and quicktravel to helgen (thats just my safe harbor from crashes since I have never had a crash in/near helgen), which leads me to believe that Im gonna be fine for now, until I reach the next CTD-heavy quest thing *sigh*

I did notice that the medium textures looked more like graphical artefact collections, rather then real textures (the roads were covered in all kinds of colors) but oh well, since I normally play with high textures, I dont really mind the medium textures being horribly broken.

Conclusion: I dont really know what has helped me fixing this now, but your post sparked my to try again. those tries were once again very frustrating, but in the end I managed to get through that part, so thank you for that.

Hi all,

I have exactly the same problem, but your solution don't works for me :(

The only one I have found is using the console en use the COC command like this : COC KynesgroveBurialMound01. You'll spawn under the dragon and the game don't crash.

If it's don't work maybe you can try other location : http://www.skyrimsearch.com/cells.php?h=0&d=0&CID=

bye
