vortex file will not install, or open the download file

trying to install vortex without success. my computer doesn't recognize the file type.

Blame your anti-virus. Find the file you downloaded and rename the file type to .exe. And get a decent anti-virus.

Change the file extension on your install version of Vortex to .exe. It will install then.

 

The altered file extension did not originate with NexusMods. I frequently download executable files from NexusMods, including Vortex, and the .exe extension is not changed. However, somewhere after leaving NexusMods your file got changed. That sounds like something an anti-virus might do.
