can anyone tell me if there is a way to either cheat or fool the institute into believing the railroad is dead,(i hadnt gone to the railroad before going into the institute i had used a decoder mod to decode the chip) in my last playthrough i tried to contact the railroad after siding with the institute, but when i went to the church and "knocked" on their door, i couldnt get ahold of anyone.. there was no desdimona, no glory, no one just a wall. any ideas?? thanks in advance.

i would really love to know if anyone else has encountered this..

IIRC, if you side with the Institute first, all options for the RR are disabled. I've done a lot of play-throughs, and I only recently learned that in order to do the 'perfect ending' (all factions friends and institute gone) is by meeting them and doing their quests in a VERY SPECIFIC ORDER, because there are many 'can't turn back' points built in, where the other factions stop speaking to you.

For me, the most annoying one was P.A.M - she would stop talking to you even when the rest of the RR was still friends with you (supposedly not a glitch - her algorithms detected your relation with the BoS after a time).

The 'correct' order (if you want to interact with all factions and have nearly all the quests) is to meet the BoS first, do their starter quests, THEN the RR up to 'Tradecraft', and lastly the Institute (AFTER you've killed a certain someone). Of course you hook-up with the Minutemen at the beginning. I've never tried to avoid the Minutemen stuff, but I hear it is possible.

I think in order to go to the Railroad HQ you need to start the quest Road to Freedom, which can be started from Diamond City by listening to the two workers close to Valentines home or listen to the tape in Hancocks office in Goodneighbor. You don't need to acually follow the freedom trail, but I think it is necessary to start the quest itself.

Very possible. You can just forego Concord. And if you want the perception bobblehead all you need to do is not go back into the museum after clearing the town. Preston and his idiot friends will stay in the museum indefinitely and minutemen quests don't start.

Can't you just power armor jetpack from the church next to the museum into the museum top floor, go in the top door, and get the bobblehead without even triggering Preston's "Help me with these raiders" dialog?

thanks mate, for that, most appreciated..

when i figure out why i get a white screen when i use the teleporter into the institute this will come in handy... (i've gotta disable all of my mods to get into the institute any suggestions on how to avoid this would be greatly appreciated)

thanks for the replies guys.

i've attached my list, hopefully someone can help me with this.

the sim settlement stuff, works as it should. so that isnt the issue its something else in that list, i'm just not sure what it could be. i really am not keen on disabling anything.. last time i did that it wiped out all of my hard work. my settlements were a complete mess..

i'm not doing the institute bit until i can find a way to keep everything in tact.

so if you can help me... anyone!!! i would be more than grateful

thanks

  • 1 month later...

Download mod Project Valkrie and then you wont have to kill anybody

I am using the Project Valkyrie/Outcasts & Remnants combo in my current playthrough and the possibility of a peaceful outcome with all sides seems like an exciting alternative. Can't wait to try all the new quests.
