Skyim PC freeze. HELP!!

I've been playing Skyrim for months on my PC with no issues. Yesterday, NMM had an update, which I applied. Now, before this I've been trying to fix the SkyUI mod because for whatever reason, my PC won't recognize the skse file or whatever it is that's required to run it properly. I deleted and reinstalled the mod. I went to activate the mod and my whole PC froze and locked, requiring a manual override to shut down. This happened about 5 times in a row. I figured it an issue with the download. I went to reinstall all aspects of SkyUI. Once I did this I went to re-download the skse file and it said my PC couldn't download it. After THIS, I figured I'd just not use the SkyUI anymore. After deleting the mod through NMM, I went to start up Skyrim. Now, anytime I click to start, whether it's through the disk, or through NMM, the whole PC freezes like before. After THIS, I figured, ok, delete and reinstall Skyrim completely. Did that. Went to reinstall and as soon as "Install: Skyrim Elder Scrolls" was clicked on the start up menu guess what happens...My computer freezes. What the heck am I doing wrong?!?!!? This is very frustrating. For whatever reason, my PC had the security turned off so there are no restore points for me to use. Now, I have Kaspersky active and running and I've done disk cleanups, virus sweeps, etc.

Please help!!

Still no solution. The ONLY thing I can think of is a recent secondary HD that I took out of my PC since it can hold two. I have one 500GB and I added another 500GB. I took out the secondary due to some other issues with the screws.(however the game was not designated to that HD that was removed. and it ran fine before it was added) I'm going to try one other thing and I'll keep you posted, but I have low hopes. I really don't want to resort to PS3 after playing this on PC so long.

I had a strange crash on 18.9 too--when trying to install it. In my case, the computer crashed completely, shut down. I had to restart the whole thing. Then when I tried again I got a message that the "file needs to be elevated" although Iwas already running it on administrative priveledges. And then it crashed again.

What seems to have worked for me was completely uninstalling 18.8 separately, moving my mod files (the C;/games/skyrim one) to a different location, then installing 18.9 as a new file, rather than overwriting the old one, as I have always done in the past. I was then able to move my mods back into the folder that 18.9 has set up and reinstall them all. I still have skyUI running and it seems to be working fine.

Not sure this will help, but I hope it does!

@Georgiegril - The crappy part is that I have already uninstalled the game in haste of thinking that it was a corrupted file or something (not much of a computer person). The problem NOW is that when I put the disk in, I get the normal start up menu asking what I want to do. When I click the option "Install: Elder Scrolls" the WHOLE computer freezes. Mouse, controls, hot keys, power button, everything freezes. I result in having to manually override the shut down.

I figure maybe it's because I removed the secondary HD from the extra slot and the game was somehow designated to run off that one, versus the stock HD. (hard drive). I don't know. Even before all this when I tried to activate the SkyUI mod in NMM, I got to the install screen and the same thing happened. 100% frozen. And my computer gets oddly quiet almost like in a ghost mode or something. It's odd. And only with Skyrim (so far. I haven't tried any other games yet). It pisses me off because this is the second go-around I've had with Skyrim. I'm level 52, mild modder, all homes purchased, main quest line done, and now I may have to start all over a third time.

Maybe I'll just focus on finishing Assassin's Creed lol.

Why don't they make a patch to fix this issue? when i contact them about the game issue a have got a crappy respond from them. that doesn't make any sense. I hope you can find a solution Zacktastica, because it’s really annoying the game computer freezes.

At this point, sadly, I've given up hope. Just tried going into the BIOS (but I have no idea what I'm doing in there). I may just restore my computer...again. I don't understand what happened.

Because when then i see that i still have the same problem, i will break something lol. i understand what you are saying Zacktastica, at some point i what to give up hope too, but i keep having faith that something will come up.

Zacktastica i think i found the solution, you must deleted the skyrim.ini file, and skyrimPrefs.ini in the documents > my games> skyrim file. then start the game, and them go back in you skyrim file in the document, and change in the skyrimprefs.ini the iPresentInterval from 1 to 0 or the other way around ( i think).

I will keep you update.
