invalid esp or esm

every so often when i go to install a mod i get the error "plugins not sorted 'name of mod' esp or esm not a valid plugin" such as Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch can you tell me what is going on

When you get that message, try the following:

  1. Check to see if the mod in question is in fact installed. If not, then dismiss the message, sort, and move on.
  2. If the mod is installed, then turn on auto-sort and auto-deploy, if you have not already done so.
  3. Check to see if the mod on the mods page is "enabled." If not, then enable it.
  4. Check to see if the mod plugin on the plugins page is "enabled." If not, then enable it.
  5. Enabling will trigger the sort and deploy process. If the message remains, then dismiss it.

Every once and awhile I get this message. I suspect it's "fake news" with no real impact on your ability to sort and deploy.

Not so, I have been having this problem with several other mods and...The mods are up to date, sorted, installed correctly. when in game the mod works correctly until I restart the game, the mod(s) have to be reinstalled over and over again with this same error "esp or esm not a valid plugin"

I have been having the same problem. Random Mods, Mods that have been running fine. No updates for the mod that keep coming up invalid. Whatever the problem is, its major. Won't run the game unless I uninstall the invalid mods. Kepps shuffling with this warning from one mod to another.

Have you tried to submit this as a bug report?
