WishingDoom
I had a similar problem in windhelm, i entered the town and kept getting crashes..couldnt fast travel out of it or exit in anyway without a crash, it turned it it was because of the paralax textures so i deleted them and it worked. digdeep
I have problems with Windhelm too. I dont have a CTDs, but strong stutters-fps drops to 0. It happens constantly. At first I thought that it happens just in town, but I get stutters just before a bridge too.Dont know why, I will try to minimize it with this: skyrim.ini [General]fMasterFilePreLoadMB=128.0000iPreloadSizeLimit=268435456 skyrimprefs.ini [Display]fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=10000000.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=10000000.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=10000000.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=10000000.0000 How to reduce stuttering will report back tomorrow Edited April 12, 2013 by digdeep

jbsjobs
Had the same problem and realized that the ctd happened when many npc were loaded at the same time. I decided in my case with the following : 1 - follow the suggestion " Arthmoor " , creator of the mod " Open Cities" . --- Fortunately the community has devised a solution to this problem in the form of a pre-load memory patch . There are several options for these now , but the one I most strongly recommend is shipping the part of SKSE now beginning with SKSE 1.7 . In order to configure SKSE 1.7 to solve this problem , you simply need to make sure your skse.ini file in Data / SKSE contains at least The Following lines : [ Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB = 768 ScrapHeapSizeMB = 256 ---- In my case I had to create the folder and SKSE skse.ini the notepad file and add the lines , and then renaming the file extension . 2 - In addition , I had to disable the mod "open cities " , entered the city , I passed the spot that the CTD occurred and after saving , I enabled the mod again. Ekzz
@ Mr.Bravo The bugged script might be the problem. the script is still in your saves i think. i read something like that about broken quests: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/703954-are-you-having-constant-exterior-ctds-ive-finally-found-your-solution/ You need to wait 31 days. But you should do it in the "test chamber". This is a guide how to do it: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting#Clean_Save_Procedure Hope this helps....THANK YOU SO MUCH this also saved me a lot of trouble. i already have the memory blocks increased using skse. i couldnt work out why i ctd still, and every single time when trying to enter windhelm. you dont have to download a hack. you can change the size yourself following this guide: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/change-virtual-memory-size#1TC=windows-7 took me 2 seconds! Jonnecy
I've had Windhelm crashes where I get a CTD when entering a new Windhelm cell either on foot or by fast travel. The only solution I figured out was clearing the weather. In the console, using the ~ key, issue the following command: fw 10e1f2 This clears the weather and forces a nice sunny day. I do this whenever the Windhelm blizzard makes me crash and the problem goes away. I tried disabling mods, checking the script log for errors, and restoring the standard low-res snowflakes with no effect. This is the only thing that works for me. You lose some of the Windhelm "charm" of always walking around in a snow storm though. It might not always be possible to do this for fast travelling to Windhelm from somewhere far away. You might need to travel somewhere in the same area and then clear the weather before approaching. it worked!! thx so much for posting this here;)
oldstarscream
For me the fix was1: Reinstalled 'Enhanced Lights and FX' but without optional 'exteriors' checkbox. This allowed me to enter Windhelm without a CTD.
jhenry0302
Greetings, I was having the all-around-Windhelm-crash problem on a pretty fresh install of Skyrim Special Edition modded according to TucoGuide here on Nexus. I followed all of the instructions to a "T" and enjoyed the most stable modded Skyrim experience ever! Except when it came to journeying around Windhelm. Instant CTD every time, no matter from where I approached Windhelm. I tried a variety of troubleshooting procedures to fix the problem including everything from this thread and these other threads here and here. Nothing solved my CTD, however. In my own process of elimination, I decided to disable mods a few at a time to try and track down the issue. Given conversation surrounding disabling weather effects or setting weather around Windhelm to "sunny," I thought I would start by disabling this mod from TucoGuide first. It turned out that when disabling this mod and only this mod (and related patches), Snowy AF Windhelm, my game is now stable around Windhelm. Snowy AF Windhelm appears to have been the culprit on my system. So I just thought I'd chime in with my experience in case anyone else was still experiencing this frustrating issue. Peace.
