Problems with downloads

Ok, first of all, if this topic has already been discussed i apologize or if its the wrong place i also apologize.

 

But anyway, im having problems with a few downloads. they dont appear in the game although on the data files it says they are there. I have correctly installed them as far as i know putting all the meshes and textures in the right places but it still doesnt work. Can anybody help me or does anyone have the same problem? I know this is probably a noob question but hey i am new to modding.

Can you tell us which mods, that would probably be the most help to us, in order to help you.

There are three Adelina armors on Tesnexus.. the reason I asked is so that I can read the "Readme" that goes with the mods you're having trouble with, to figure out what is what.

 

Have you carefully read the Readme files?

yes i have, ive done eveything correctly but still it ownt work, ive downloaded and intalled the eye candy mod whatever its called aswell, is there any other mods u need for it to work?

Well you're not very thorough in your answers. "everything"? how about an actual list of the steps you took?

 

Sorry to sound annoyed, I'm not much really, but the more info you give me, the more info you're likely to get in return, (just a rule of thumb).

 

Did you put an X in the box for the plugin? Did your character go to the place in the game where the item is located (for the Adelina Armor). Since you have the mod already, how about copying and pasting the text of the readme here and just saying what you did? You know what i mean/so that I don't have to, since I don't use those mods.

 

Ok Downloading.

 

First Adelina for HGEC (supposing that's the actual one you downloaded (?!)) comes in OMOD and non-OMOD formats and you have to choose one to download. Since you didn't say that either, I still don't know.

 

I notice that the NON-OMOD version comes as a ZIP file which sucks IMHO, because Zip tends to screw up the folder structures when you copy to your data folder.

 

That's number one.

ok, ive tried installing both the omod and the .zip and ur right the .zips are poo lol.

 

For the omod i simply extracted it to the omod's mods folder then installed it the game using the Oblviion mod manager. I also checked the meshes and textures folder after i realised it didnt work the first time and they were all the folder RAIAR which it stated in the readme which is the in armor folders.

 

After thsi didnt work again i uninstalled it and tried the .zip file which i downloaded to my created folder Mods which i use for origianl files and backups. I extracted it using winzip to the data folder in hwich it popped up in its own little folder in which i copied Meshes, Textures and the Knife logo file (which i believe is for the contruction set, am i right?), Check it again (and yes i deleted the Omods RAIAR folder before hand) Then went on to the oblivion data files and ticked teh box, again it didnt work.

 

I would try the third mod but TEXNEXUS and my computer are havaing problems reading each otehr right now for some reason (keeps popping up it cant find the page after taking forever to load once i click the london england link.

 

Mind you, it may be a problem with teh eye candy mod actually, havent tried reinstalling it.

 

Anyway hope this was some help, as i said im a noob at this so i dont really know what is rigth and wrong but most mods work doing these steps i did.

Anyway, you didn't say whether you checked the box next to the Plugin in OBMM or the launcher, sorry if that's too obvious!

 

And I've downloaded Adelina now, and it extracts with a folder named "Adelina" first which would be wrong. Just make sure you don't have a folder called Adelina.

 

Also, since the folders, even if they extracted wrongly, would still create folder called "data/textures/armor/adelina esperanza" then you can't be sure it installed into the right place.

 

On the Omod, I've had that screw stuff up before as well (shhh!) so I don't use it often, and have not attempted become an expert on it or what goes wrong with it.

 

The folder structure for this particular mod should be

G:\TES\Oblivion\Data\Textures\armor\RAIAR

 

(*where G:\Tes is my custom install directory)

I'm really glad I helped you on this, because that top is FANTASTIC! I have a brown pair of pants it's perfect with. I'm going to have to make some boots to match the gloves and stuff, and make another set of gloves to match the pants I think.

 

Anyway, it's best to use 7zip for handling your file extraction process for you, instead of Winzip. I can make a screenshot guide and put it here later, check for an edited version of this message.
