infuckingpossible
Hello all, Back to one of my fave games, Oblivion, with the stack of .esp files that mods ran on long ago. Now though, every page of everything talks of some never-before-seen-by-me *.omod file extension. OBBM is quite obstinant about it. .omod files only. Never seen one on this sit though and with better than 20 mods downloaded as well as some of the old, not one .omod. i did try Vortex and Wryre. Vortex is so all-encompassing, I can't be sure if its working or not. It bcan download and all sorts of stuff. Perhaps it need internet (Windows partition not allowed). The other is just buggy. Try to install several times and be denied and then it works on try # whatever. Figured that was it, but no. It's first demand was that Obsidian be reinstalled with it's 8 DLC's (one-at-a-time) at a new location. An hour later, it demands MSVCP140.dll, so reboot to Linux for internet, found it and moved it to the correct place decompressed. Reboot to Windows and Wryre says I should copy an error page, go to a website and report it to go on with a list of errors.OBBM, for it's part, installs fine but demands only *.omod files which I'v never seen, No *.esp allowed. Clearly the wrong manager. Okay, Either the software is not working or the time it will take to master it would be far more than the time to master modding by hand. Enough time wasted. My best bet is to study reusable methods that can be used in the future. Learning to master a program only to be used once? So, if any have good links to tutorials about modding oblivion manually, they'd be much appreciated. I'm going manual. Gotta be easier than these programs. Had i gone manual to start, Id be long done by now. Another need is archive invalidation. I'd like to do this by hand as I am guessing tha achive invalidator app won't work either. Can it be done on the command line? is it a config file and if so where? Etc. Again links appreciated. And lastly, I am curious as to what an .omod might look like or if even people are just repeating a word they heard. Is there a link to somewhere where I can see one? I've found none in any file from here.... ever. And I have been dropping in for a decade off and on. They seem mysterious. Even ghost like. And i don't believe in those. Perhaps you don't download them but make them in a similar way to compiling unsupported programs in Linux. I've all kinds of strange theories. Maybe its just a joke. I'll get onto the parts I know. copy and paste. .esp files. A few .nif. No omods. Thanks for any help.
leonardo2
OBBM, for it's part, installs fine but demands only *.omod files which I'v never seen, No *.esp allowed. Clearly the wrong manager. You can't use neither Vortex or Wrye Bash for .omod(s), instead what you need is to install Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) and .omod is a file extension to mods packaged in OBMM. I recommend to also install OBMM-Extended as it has some useful features, but remember you shouldn't install mods in OBMM that requires the Bashed Patch and it's fine to use both OBMM and Wrye Bash together. M48A5
I take it you have never used the search function at the top of every mod page. I got 127 results in 7ms using the term "omod" in the search. OMODs are scripted mods that usually require the Oblivion Mod Manager to install. s This is one of them: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/26103?tab=files
