Old monitor + new pc = ?

Recommended Posts

Dunno if this is even the right place to ask, but I may as well.

I recently managed to build a new gaming pc, with all the parts save for the monitor being new. However, even after putting it together, the monitor will not get a signal. Before you ask, yes, I connected it to every port the PC has including the motherboard and the graphics card. No dice. I don't know if there's something wrong with the parts, or if I just need to buy a new monitor.

If it helps, here's my specs:

Thermaltake Versa N21 Black Edition Translucent Window Panel SPCC ATX Mid Tower Computer Chassis CA-1D9-00M1WN-00

EVGA 430 W1, 80+ WHITE 430W Power Supply 100-W1-0430-KR, Black

MSI Gaming Intel Skylake B150 LGA 1151 DDR4 USB 3.1 Micro ATX Motherboard (B150M Gaming Pro)

Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL14 DIMM Desktop Memory (HX421C14FBK2/8)

WD Blue 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive (WD10EZEX)

EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 3GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Cards 03G-P4-6160-KR

Intel Pentium G Series 3.50 GHz Dual-Core LGA 1151 Processor (BX80677G4560)

AOC LED Monitor E2252Sw

Any help would be appreciated!

I did try removing the graphics card and plugging into the motherboard, but there wasn't any noticeable difference--still no signal, no beeps. Dunno if that means the parts are defective or if I just need a new monitor.

I should add that I did try using a different monitor to test it--except it was one of those big clunky ones from way back when that's heavy enough to crack your skull open. Still no signal. Makes me a bit nervous, to be honest.

Oh, fabulous. Nothing's ever easy, is it?

Can you at least go into detail? Dunno what a BIOS update is, or even how to do one if it's possible.

You download a small file from the motherboard manufacturer's website, put it on an usb-drive and run in in the bios.

You would need a gen 6 processor to get in to the BIOS. Maybe a local Computer shop can update the BIOS for you.

Or you could send back your motherboard and buy a B250 board instead.

That assumes you can at least get the MB to post though. He isn't even getting that far.

Unfortunately, yeah, the main issue is that the monitor will not get a signal no matter what gets plugged into where. I know someone who will be able to let me borrow their monitor to see if I just need a new one, so hopefully that'll get SOME kind of result. I appreciate the help, at least.
