Im curious.

I'm curious at why people play certain classes, races, birthsigns, and genders?

Is it stats? Is it that you want the character related to you?(physically-mentally-etc...)

How about gender? male as female? female as male? or you really don't care?

I would like to know you're opinions are on why you picked your race, gender, class etc...

We can all share each others opinions and reasons with maturity and respect.

I will not respect your opinions if they are immature.

I will start:

Race: Argonian, I've always liked being an exotic race, especially a saurian one. I'm a misanthrope to because I really don't care for humans.(not a furry, just an opinion)

Class: Custom/combat, I like being able to tank things with heavy armor/shield/sword but I also like the role of a spellblade mixing destruction and melee

Birthsign: The shadow, I don't actually sneak much but sometimes I need to so the power to become invisible helps

Gender: Male, I am a guy so I will play as a guy and I find it akward for me to play as female when I'm a male.

Feel free to share yours, have fun.

Race: Custom races like chocolate Elf, succubus sometimes Kitsune, I always wanted to play a succubus and I like the look of Elves (guess any race that looks mostly human but is not human is good for me)

Class: every class really, but I play spell swords the most (my own custom version of spell sword that is).

Birthsign: the worrier, I like to have back up weapons and gear all the time so I need all the strength I can get.

Gender: Female, you ever see a male succubus or Kitsune? I didn't think so. Also female elves look batter.

Of coarse if there was a mini wolf like race (wolf tall, ears, hands and feet but human otherwise) I would play a Male mini wolf all day (I love wolves).

Race: Wood Elf. Normally I would have preferred a High Elf, but since I've imported a head which only looks right on a heavily modified Xeo Woof Elf, I had to swap races. Generally, I like anything Elf-like. I find them beautiful to look at, they fit into the fantasy realms very well, and since I use a flying mod, it matches an elf better than a boring human. Ultimately though, what dictates my choice of race is what I can get looking the best. Ideally, if I can have beauty AND Elf, great. If not, I'll go for whatever looks prettiest.

Class: Custom. I like being something of a modified archer, with a bias towards acrobatics, stealth and speed. I almost never use blades, so I make a class that will fit with an archer. If I had a complete choice, I'd love to have a class more like what you could do in UItima IV. (I love being peaceful, divine, non-violent, healer, etc. I miss that in Oblivion. No choice but to slash and smash.)

Birthsign: The Steed. I like the speed and also simply like the look of the sign.

Gender: Always female. I'm female in real life, plus I got stuck with endless male characters in most games in my early playing days, and I find it easier to fall into the fantasy of the the game if my character is female. Only time I play as a male character is in a game which has absolutely no choice and can't be modified. (And even then I will hope that it's a 3D shooter where I don't see my character at all so I can still pretend that I'm female  )

In total, I actually have a character type which I try to carry through all the games I play. In terms of looks, 'personality', etc. The looks can vary a bit, but ultimately I stick with a single character and style through all the games I play. As long as her looks remain moderately consistent, the rest is up to my imagination.

Race: Nord, Breton, or Imperial

Why: I like to relate to my character, and those are the three closest to my ancestry and my appearance.

Gender: Male, but once in a while female

Why: I pick male most of the time because I want to relate to the character as much as possible. I sometimes pick female to reinforce the idea that gender doesn't determine personality.

Class: Custom (focuses on Intelligence, Willpower, Alchemy, Acrobatics, and Archery)

Why:

I pick intelligence even though I don't use magic because I want to relate to my character. I choose willpower because I have a lot of it in real life.

I pick alchemy because I like making potions and poisons in Oblivion, and because I dabble in herbalism in real life. Gathering ingredients also gives me a reason to wander the countryside staring at plants.

I select acrobatics so that I can use a climbing mod more effectively, and because I like climbing and jumping around on stuff. I hate that our one natural advantage as humans (excluding intelligence) is completely absent from most rpgs!

I pick archery because I once again want to relate to my character, and I'm a pretty good shot with a bow in real life.

Birthsign: varies

Why: There's no real world equivalent that lines up in a meaningful way. I generally just pick it for the name. For example, I might pick The Ritual if I'm feeling particularly like a heretic on the day I make the character.

Race: Moonshadow Elf

I feel a strange affinity for Elvenkind in general, I suppose I buy into the ethos that Elves are like humans, but with a more ethical inclination, and the Moonshadow Elf being a somewhat stealthy/assassin type, suits my gameplay well, and are not an uber race.

Gender: Female

Being female myself, I prefer being my own sex, and doing it for the sisters. And female characters do get to wear the nicest clothing and shoes.

Class: Custom

I would describe myself as a Summoner with a big old lump of metal to whack the bad guys with. I generally play blunt weapons, fairly heavy on the stealth side of things, with a little bit of magic, almost entirely summoning. I even give my summons pet names, like Scampi for my Scamp, and Craig for my Zombie (named after an ex, who was pretty much a zombie in real life). I take the slow leveling approach, doing lots of skill increases in between level increases, and like to take long walks in the wilderness, and very rarely get on a horse.

Birthsign: The Lady

Nice and simple attribute adjuster, gives the extra endurance a Moonshadow Elf requires, and the extra willpower is useful for magicka regeneration. Would possibly like a custom birthsign, that boosted personality and endurance, since the Moonshadow Elf is pretty poor in both areas.

Race: Dunmer

I mostly like their skills in swords, magic, and bows. i like their culture, style, personality's, and they look cool.

Gender: Male

Because im a male, and would always go with playing as a male when i have the option. i just feel weird playing a female. Plus, i get more immersed playing as a male.

Birthsign: The warrior

I like the endurance and strength boost. especially the endurance boost, since my mods make weapons do way more damage, so health is more important.

Class: Custom (Dungeoneer)

I specialize in light armour, security, (i don't steal, but i find lots of locked chests in dungeons.) blade, marksman, block, and armourer.

Race: I played through Morrowind as an Argonian, but in Oblivion I chose a Breton, because I wanted to play it as Drake this time and Drake's looking like a young Breton when in human shape. I finished the main quest as a Breton, Drake in human shape. Only later I was able to create Drake's race itself and it's still not even close enough to him. Ever since then I was playing as an Anthro-Dragon. Though for a shape shifter what "race" he is isn't really a fixed value.

Gender: Drake's a male, I'm a male, I wanna play as him, so there you have it, male.

Class: Custom. I chose his attributes so I could play as him the best as possible without becoming overpowered or unbalancing. He's a skilled sword fighter, preferes to fight unarmed, using martial arts, against "living" foes though, and his potential to use magic is pretty high, he's just not very skilled or trained in it, yet. But it's inside him, and it's strong.

Birthsign: I think it was The Lady, lacking any better alternative. It wasn't really important to me back then though.

Ever since I'm able to do so I'm only interested in playing an RPG as Drake now. If I'm not able to do so right away, I'll make it so I am, one way or another. For me to ever "replay" a game once I was through the main storylines is very unlikely. But luckily due to mods playing Oblivion can become an "endless" experience, really. But I'm rather modding than playing nowadays anymore anyways.

Race: Breton/Imperial/Dunmer/Bosmer; I play multiple characters (various profiles, personalities, etc.) and those are my top choices, with the majority being Bretons; that lends itself well to the fact that I tend to favor magic use heavily either as part of the class, or solely. Back when playing Morrowind I favored Redguards heavily, but they just don't seem as appealing in Oblivion (hard to make them as attractive).

Gender: Female. I admit part of it is because I admire making them beautiful (as I define it) but over the years I've just grown to like the female protagonist, be she the strong warrior type or the shy, gentle healer type. I play my ladies various ways, from an amoral Dunmer assassin to a timid Breton conjurer (who effectively "hides behind" her summons in both a figure and literal sense) to a proud Imperial Paladin.

Class: Always custom, but I tend to favor archer/magical options the most; with few exceptions I just can't seem to get behind the hack-and-slash fighting style I once enjoyed. I also tend to enjoy playing thief/stealth characters; in fact I often blend the three together (a stealthy, magical archer, for example, or a mage who employs stealth and chameleon to confuse her enemies). In this regard I've found Bretons work very well--or maybe it's just my favoritism of that race.

Birthsign: Apprentice, Thief and Atronach. The first because of the magicka boost; most of my Bretons are "born" under this, since their innate magic resistance halves the negative effect. The Thief is a natural with its three attribute bonus; the Atronach I enjoy for both the initial magicka boost, and the challenge of not having easy magicka regeneration (keeps my mages resourceful.)

Here's what I usually play as:

Race: Preferably Argonian or Khajiit, but sometimes the Elven races. I've always liked playing as animal-like races. And I like the Argonian's water-breathing abilities and Khajiit being skilled in stealth.

Class: Mostly combat or stealth classes. I've always liked to sneak up on enemies and shoot them with arrows when they can't detect me. Though I will use swords and daggers as well.

Birthsign: The Steed, as I like to go fast! ;D

Gender: Usually female, because I am female in real life. Sometimes I will play as a male character, though.
