sinnerman69
I don't know know how to download the official high resolution texture pack from my steam program, so I went to steam site and found the page for Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC) I clicked the install button, stupid steam takes me to the summer sale deal page and nothing happens!.. I wont to use XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement but it requires the official high resolution texture pack and I'm having a very hard time getting it off of steam :wallbash: I did find a alternative download site from, google http://skyrim-high-resolution-texture-pack.en.softonic.com/ not sure if it's a trust worthy download, I'd prefer getting it from steam!.. here was the steam page I tried to download from that didn't work and took me to a summer deal site page once the download button was clicked I'll go without the XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement if I have too, just wanted no red scars update may of been able to start the download from, my steam client http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm172/sretsgiarc/Download-2.jpg Edited July 13, 2012 by sinnerman69
thompsonar
I don't think that mod requires the high res texture pack, what made you think this? In fact I think it's more complicated to install if you have the high res texture pack....
sinnerman69
I was going by these instructions on XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement mod front page, see below Step-by-step guide on how to get texture replacements working with the official texture pack. 1. Disable the two .esp files HighResTexturePack01.esp and HighResTexturePack02.esp2. Go to the Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder and open Skyrim.ini3. Find the [Archive] section in the .ini file4. Add the following two entries: HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa5. Your .ini should look like this6. Now you should be able to use texture replacements as usual The normal maps are located in a separate folder, you will only need them if you're not using the official texture pack. update you where right they'll, I had made the changes to my Skyrim.ini like the front page mod suggested and was unable to launch my game from my skse_loader - Shortcut, so I removed Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC) and restored to a earlier Skyrim.ini and my character had the newer scars of the XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement mod Edited July 13, 2012 by sinnerman69
fraquar
You don't need to do the .INI changes anymore - they fixed that with previous updates to Skyrim (load ordering issues and overwrites). You don't need the Texture pack to run that mod either. That depreciated advice should probably be removed from that (and other) mod page(s). It was a necessary kludge until they fixed it with a proper update. Edited July 13, 2012 by fraquar
sinnerman69
XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement mod is working now without the ini changes and high res pack installed, so all is well
