speed_toucher
You don't have to delete the mods, I had the same problem. I was advised to erase the skyrim folder from the "My Games" directory. I did that and it all works fine now. Trust me it will only get worst, eventually it will start crashing every 45 secs and will be impossible to play. You may want to erase the saves only if you have moded the game hard and for a long time. The thing is that if you uninstall mods, there will be remains left in the Papyrus, located in the saves folder, not sure what it is, but someone who studied this issue in detail explained it to me. Those remains pollute the game and make it crash. By deleting the saves you delete the remains and start with clean saves. You only need to uninstall a few mods and the issue will appear. Honestly, I think you should backup you saves and then try this. If it turns out to be the way I mentioned, then there isn't much you can do, just avoid uninstalling mods. bben46
Check your hard drive activity light - if its constantly flashing that means the game (or something) is being constantly swapped in and out of RAM to the page file. This can be caused by not enough RAM. Skyrim will run with just 1Gig of ram, but not well. 2G is much better. A 32 bit system maxes out at 4G RAM, and part of that will always be used by Windows and any other background programs, processes, services and anything else. Most laptops, and low end computers that use an on board video subsystem instead of a separate video card use the System ram as video ram  - This means if you have 1G of system ram, about .3 to .4 G of that is taken by Windows, and another .25G is taken by the video leaving you with about .3 to .4G for the game - not nearly enough. A 2G laptop is not much better, as the video will take a bit more - typically .5G for video and .5 G for Windows and everything else, leaving 1G for the game - somewhat better. At 3G things get much better, still .5G for Windows and .5G (or a bit more) for Video, but now nearly 2G available for the game. At 4G (Max for 32 bit systems) you will have around 2.5 to 2.75G available for the game. Putting more than 4G of RAM into a 32 bit computer is just a waste of RAM as it CANNOT use any more than 4G. Moving to a 64 bit system means you can use more than 4G RAM. But as the game is a 32 bit game, it can only use 4G RAM max. If you have more than 4G (typically the next step is 6 or 8G) in your computer, all of that windows and background stuff will be moved into the extra ram, leaving the full 4G available to play a game. forthemods08
happened to me when i disabled sounds of skyrim to see if it was causing me to crash.. re-enabling it took my pauses away. (there were a lot of script errors when i disabled it, maybe that had something to do with it)

I tried deleting all my saves except for a couple of recent ones for a similar reason, and that did improve Skyrim's performance, but yeah had a lot of mod action going on in-game. It's all good though, I may have ended up having to start over, but at least my issues are cleared. It sounds like your advice would be more helpful though. xP3N6U1Nx
I get the same problem. I used to have microstutter months ago but tried a bunch of different things and it eventually stopped. Now I have the exact same problem all of you are having with a 3 second pause every couple of minutes. doesn't matter what trick I try, it still persists. It didn't happen until I updated with the newest update. I tried to reinstall the game without the update and it wont let me play from my save game. I wish someone would find a solution to this. If you are having this problem and have been able to fix it, please post here what you did! thank you. good luck. I really love this game and want to keep playing but this is super annoying. Brandy1123
First off, I would recommend bben46's troubleshooting manual. Its quite remarkable and will help you out in any game you play online or modded. I had a similar problem a few months back. AS suggested, it was mod conflicts. With new updates, some mods become obsolete or damaging to your game play or load order. If you are running a lot of system intense mods, 7k mods, world changing mods, cities, NPC, wars, weather, spawns and a menagery of other things, it is possible, your system is just overloaded. More then likely, you are experiencing mod conflicts. Check the size of your savegame file. If you are exceeding 15meg or beyond I would say you have the wonderful gamebloat issue. If your save is somewhere between 12-15M watch it closely, as that could be a problem. Open up Task manager and see what processes are running. If you have more then about 20 you need to see what's loading on your system. More then likely (as bben46 declared) something is taking up your resources. Inside that same window, you can right click on a process and set its priority. Spy sweepers, anti virus, and lately Adobo -- horrible offender, vie for your system. They want it and dont want you to be able to use it. STEAMypile is another one. STEAMypile updates will kill your game play, even though they are invisible.. HMMMMmmmmm Post back if you find anything else or are able to isolate this down more. I wish you the best in finding a solution :)
