DrenSlace
I have over 160 mods installed but i recently noticed some NPCs are not moving their mouths while talking. I found an old article that mentions this could be due to too many NPC or AI in one cell. Is this true? Is the best fix just to reduce the number of NPCs? Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry if this has been asked before.

rcgenck
Same here, I didn't notice it until I started playing again recently. Last play through was about 9 months ago.
TamaeGreybeard
Same here. But on occasion the animation starts working for 1 or 2 saves then stops. Did notice that it's only the lips aren't moving. (tfc and get in their head. You can see their jaws moving. Or watch a bearded npc) I can start a new game and all works well then it happens again. Please some find an answer. anjenthedog
Hmm... Check your mods (in their respective MCMs) for any checkboxes that define use of facial expressions. I've heard that having both voice and expression set to ON doesn't work for some configurations that include those two settings. I think there's at least one mod that offers both those settings on its Animation Settings submenu
beastinair
Did you ever find a fix for this? I've been experiencing this same thing for a couple months now.

beastinair
Did you ever find a fix for this? I've been experiencing this same thing for a couple months now. If you happen to have SL installed, check the Animation Settings submenu, then see my comment above yours If the voice and expressions are both set to true, the system can end up locking their mouth animations. Also, I believe there are some other related mods (ABBA, and SLSO if I remember correctly) , that also can cause similar problems Thanks for the reply. I finally found the culprit - it was this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/94545 The mod was intended to replace the female head meshes, but for some reason it was extending to male NPCs, even those added by other mods such as Interesting NPCs. Removing that mod fixed my issue.
Cristobot
Anyone still having this problem? (In response to the previous post, I don't have that mod installed, and I am using Skyrim Special Edition). I only have 1 NPC that is not moving her mouth when talking.I have just noticed this with Nether's Frea Replacer. I do have several other NPCs in the cell - (my Lakeview manor), but they all move their mouths when speaking. Most of the other NPCs in the cell are replacers too, though not as complex as Nether's Frea. I'm thinking of reinstalling Nether's Frea mod to see if that will get Frea's mouth moving again...
