Fcdwn777
Hello. So, I just got to Solitude for the first time (2nd playthrough, lots of mods) and entered expecting to see Roggvir's execution. Instead, all I saw was Roggvir and the executioner on stage, and one npc (one of the elves who works in the clothes shop) standing where the crowd should be. I waited a few hours to see if that would change anything, and all the happened was the executioner and the elf chick left, and Roggvir went to work sharpening something using the grinder on the stage. So I left Solitude and came back in. To my surprise, Jaree-Ra ran at Roggvir (who was still on stage) wtih a knife and killed him. Then as I spoke to some NPCs, their dialogue was as if I had completed the Bards college quest line and got the festival things to happen. Things like "Thanks for convincing <put name here" to put this on" and stuff like that, but I had yet to do one quest in Solitude since I had just arrived. Has anyone had this bug before? I don't know what to do. I am wary of continuing since I don't want this bug to affect something down the road and mess my game up in some way. Any advice? Thanks in advance. Fcdwn777
Quick update. When I first entered Solitude it seemed like a lot of NPCs were missing in general, like vendors from their stalls in the front of solitude. I headed toward the bards college, and many of the npcs were there waiting for me to set fire to the king, even though I had not done the quest and there was no king to burn. I entered the college and was able to receive the quest to get the poem book in order to convince the queen to let the festival happen. I am hoping if I complete this quest line and burn the king, that the npcs will go back to their normal routines. The only problem is that Roggvir is still alive and chilling on the stage. I am assuming that whatever bug is causing everyone to think the festival quest is done is somehow interfering with the execution. I guess we will see what happens. korkman
Uh, if you can, revert to a savegame before entering Solitude. Find one that doesn't show the bug. Or try disabling all mods before entering the city. This sounds so heavily corrupted it ought to have fatal consequences for the game later on. OriginalName404
Did you ever work out what was causing this? I've just got to Solitude for the first time on my first playthrough in a while, and I'm getting the exact same issues (up to Roggvir using the grindstone - haven't explored the rest of the city yet). I assumed it was a problem with the Open Cities mod (it caused problems for me with the first Companions quest, with NPCs disappearing), but either it wasn't that mod doing it or it didn't uninstall properly. I was really enjoying playing on a new character (after getting bored of the game months ago), but at 15+ hours in I don't think I'm going to restart if this doesn't have a fix. Such a shame... Mookeylama
having this exact problem. it appears to be caused by the mod Open Cities Skyrim...http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/554910-open-cities-skyrim/page__st__1530Â any advice? maybe a setstage command? thanks
jacobcrandall1992
Here is the fix for this issue:IF YOU HAVE ANY HESITATION USING THE CONSOLE COMMAND MENU, SAVE YOUR GAME BEFORE DOING THESE STEPS1) Kill all 4 people on stage. This includes the random guard, the captain, executioner, and Roggvir. To do this press the (~) next to (1). This brings up console commands. Once this is up simply click to select the player you wish to kill and type "kill" (without the ").2) Press the (~) key again to close the console command menu and all 4 people should fall to the ground dead.3) Press the (~) key once more to bring up console command. Select each person except for Roggvir (the prisoner) and type "resurrect" (without the ")NOTE: I waited till the sequence after one of the citizens sent his daughter home to execute these actions. I am not sure if this will work before. Immediately upon reviving most of the citizens should return to their normal duties or go home. If some remain, just wait. They should disperse eventually, just give it a few minutes. Also, please be aware that the scripted text and execution will probably not be heard or seen if you do this. Although it is not heard or seen, you should be able to talk to the citizens and they will speak as if it has occurred. From what I understand, this issue is caused by a conflict with several mods and the latest Skyrim update. I do not know if this works with any previous versions of Skyrim, but it is worth a shot. Again, just keep a save game on file is you have any hesitations.I hope this fixes the issue you have been having! meltdown0382
Hi, folks!Just wanted to let u know what solved the problem for me. Fortunately, I made a save right before entering Solitude for the first time. Thus, after experiencing the stuck execution scene i reloaded this save and made up camp at the road outside solitude using a tent from the mod "Frostfall" and slept 24 hours (if u don't use this mod then probably simply waiting or sleeping somewhere else perhaps works for u too). I then entered Solitude and the execution scene worked out perfectly. In short, simply reloading a previous save didn't work for me but sleeping some hours before entering did the trick (maybe the executioner didn't like the rain 24 hours before ).I'm using 175+ mods and the latest 1.9.xx patch.Cheers

hiveram
Hi, i have the same Solitud-problem. In "my version" of the bug there are only 3 npc: taarie, the executioner and roggvir.i tried de kill/resurrect set of commands but it didn't work.anyone knows another way to solve this problem?i'm new to this modding thing, plus i don't know how to use "boss" or "tesvedit" (is that how it's called right?)so if anyone knows how to clean this mess i will really apreciate the help!thanks!edit: surprisingly i walked around and entered the shops and houses and the npc used the dialogues after roggvir's execution, maybe the only thing i need to do is to type the "kill" command on roggvir. i'll try talking to other npc's. riverdragon72
Having the same issue. After being force to give skyrim an enema and re-install after trimming my mod load, the opening execution for my character bugged at the chopping block and I was forced to start the game elsewhere using live another life, At first entry to Solitude the crowd is there and jeering, but nothing happens on the execution stage, they all just stand there, or attack me after a few seconds if I near the stage.
