A Matter of insanity.

Is it wrong to pirate a game that you bought more then once? If so, please tell. My friends and I have been debating this for weeks and I think a little outside opinion would help. I had a similar issue like this with my WoW, back when I used to play it. (kinda pissed I wasted my money on it, it wasn't even good!)

Yes its always wrong to pirate games, even if you do own them. Its also NOT tolerated on the Nexus sites.

Yeah, I totally agree. Piracy is theft, but worse than that, it undermines the very industry that makes our games. Don't pirate guys, seriously. It's not just moraly wrong, it's bad for the industry and the economy. There's no excuse either, it's a tired example, but just because I own a black Saab, doesn't mean that if I want a silver one, I have a right to steal one. Edited by Vindekarr

What you are buying is a license to run that game on a particular device. If you buy Skyrim for Xbox, then decide you want a copy for PC, you still need to buy it as the xbox license does not apply to PC.

Piracy is killing the PC game market. If the developer makes more money making a game for xbox because many of the PC copies are stolen, (as many as 80% on some titles) then they will develop games for xbox and not for PC. The developers are making games in order to make money. If they don't make any money (More than they would make doing something else) they will stop making games. The next time you see someone whining about the PC version just being a lame port of a console version - remind them to thank the pirates for that.

Yeah it always sucks when you see a game that looks really fun, but it ends up being more console friendly.

Its sad really. I mean I understand why people would think since they have it once they can just pirate it on the PC, but its not right. And what it does to those of us who really enjoy the PC just sucks. I had Dragon Age 2 on the Xbox, but I sold it and bought it on the PC instead. Same thing with the L4D games, and Portal 2 and Borderlands. Of course this is someone who rarely plays a console (except for the Dead Space and Mass Effect games and a few random others). If you want it on the PC but already have it somewhere else. Sell the one you don't want, wait for a sale, trade (look on Craigslist soooo many people are willing to trade games when they are moving between consoles, etc.), ask momma for some money

I wish governments would shut down more websites that support piracy. But they are everywhere and last a long time. Of course I think Megaupload (that might not be the right one) got taken down for piracy. But still all the torrent sites dedicated to pirating are still around.

Piracy is stealing, pure and simple, it can never be justified.

If I bought say a Dodge Challenger, or maybe several, and then decided that the next Dodge Challenger I wanted, I would hotwire it and steal it on the spot, I would not be able to defend my actions, my saying "Well I have bought some before, so that's okay isn't it".

Stealing is stealing, however you label it.
