Stargazer09
I've only just discovered that my PipBoy has quite a few quests missing, including main quests.I worked my way slowly through the main quest line, going south to Primm after the starting missions, then Nitpon, Novac and the area around New Vegas. Along the way I did quite a few side quests and exploration, then I embarked on the 4 DLCs.I've just finished Lonesome Road, and now that I'm looking to pick up where I left off, my PipBoy shows just a couple of quests I picked up recently, and a lot of completed ones. Even the main quest (I think it was Ring a Ding Ding) is not listed.Unfortunately the earliest save I have is just at the start of Dead Money, at the bunker, and the quest list is bugged there too.Now this could be game breaking, any idea what I can do to get my quests back? Addendum: Is there a console command to determine which stage of a particular quest I'm at, if that quest is missing from the Pipboy log? I'm pretty sure I haven't completed Still in the Dark (BoS quest), I collected the 3 (or was it 2?) scout reports but have yet to return to Hidden Valley. madmongo
You can use the getstage console command to determine which stage you are at for any quest. In the console, just type getstage followed by the quest ID. You'll have to look up the quest ID from the fallout wiki. For example, Still In The Dark has a quest ID of 0015d79d. If you want to know what stage you are at, type the following in the console: getstage 0015d79d FNV quests with their quest IDs are listed here:http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_quests If a quest has bugged out on you, sometimes using setstage can get it back on track, but it depends on exactly what went wrong. Sometimes using setstage will just end up breaking it more. If you need to try it, the format of the command is setstage followed by the quest ID and then the stage number. setstage 0015d79d 39 That will set the quest Still In The Dark to the stage where you need to return to Elder McNamera with the scout reports. I'm not sure if the quest will break though since you only have two of the scout reports.
Stargazer09
Thanks. Just some more info and the behaviour of the game since I noticed this "feature".I was at Camp Forlorn, and checking my inventory I found out I only had 2 Brotherhood scout reports. Just so happens that the 3rd scout is near that location, so I sought him out, got his report. Quest log then updated and listed Still in the Dark, with the next stage of the quest. But the prior stages I had completed are still missing.Similarly, I entered the Strip and Ring a Ding Ding updated with the next stage of the quest, but again with prior completed stages not being listed. Another peculiarity I noticed a few weeks ago - sometime after I started Dead Money I found out that the perks you choose upon leveling up were all missing. Only those that you get from completing quests, such as those I earned from Old World Blues, were listed and active. I thought that DM stripped you of these perks but after completing the DLC they were not restored, so I had to console them back in. Really strange stuff. dubiousintent
Some parts of quests show up in the "Misc" tab as "quest notes". There is a toggle in the upper right corner of that display screen that switches between "Active Quest Notes" and "All Quest Notes". I don't recall precisely, but more than likely your "scout reports" are there as "notes". The "Quests" tab only logs "main plotline" quests. Side quests and ones added by mods MAY only show up while "active" (unless the mod itself added it to the "quest log" upon completion. Most don't). Only the last completed stage of any quest is listed, as you can't "go back" to an earlier stage and you have to have completed any required earlier stages to get to the current one. The information would be redundant. No idea about your issue with Perks. I am not aware that DM strips you of any Perks, but it's been awhile. And this (lost entries) is a classic example of why it is not a good idea to pile up a lot of "incomplete" active quests. -Dubious-
