VulcanTourist
There are mods available for Skyrim that seem to work as-is in Special Edition, and which have never been "ported" to Special Edition nor have comparable mods. As I progress in setting up a modded environment in SE, I have found at least one such mod that I formerly used in Skyrim that isn't to be found in SE. I imported it directly into Vortex via the existing Skyrim file I already had from previously, and that's great, but... is there any way that I can direct Vortex to manage such mods with respect to updates? What I would prefer is a coloring-outside-the-lines option where, for specific mods, Vortex can be instructed to visit the NexusMods Skyrim URL for that mod for the purpose of update checking rather than expecting to find it at the Special Edition site. Is that an existing feature I haven't identified yet? If not, pretty please do implement it.
Tannin42
There is really nothing special you have to do. Just download the mod through vortex from the skyrim section, install it while you're managing SSE.Vortex will ask you if you want to install the mod for the game it was originally intended for (Skyrim) or the currently managed one (SSE) - choose SSE.That's it. Vortex will install it for SSE but remember that it's from the skyrim section on Nexus and check there for updates. The "visit on nexus mods" link will also lead to the actual mod location. If you have manually downloaded the mod you can still set it up correctly: double click the mod in question, make sure "Source" is set to "Nexus Mods", the "Nexus Mod Id" is set correctly and finally make sure that the "Game Section" says "Skyrim", not "Skyrim Special Edition"
VulcanTourist
I overthought the process, apparently, thinking I must first install it from the file!
