Skyrim Error Code 51 help!

I know this has been brought up many times on several different forums and I have done hours of research trying to fix it with no luck, so please help!

I bought Skyrim two days ago and it gave me error code 51 the very first time I tried to boot it. I also just bought Fallout: New Vegas and it did the exact same thing. I am currently traveling in Thailand and I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my PC's specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit

8gb of RAM

i7 3610QM, 2.3GHz

1tb 5400 rpm HDD

NVIDIA GeForce 640m LE 2gb

And here is a list of the things I have already tried:

Reinstalling the game

Verifying the Cache

Deleting the .blob file and redownloading it

Booting the game directly from the source file

Deleting the TESV file and redownloading it

Running Steam in offline mode

and I'm sure there have been other but I don't remember...

I have also contacted Bethesda and Steam and have yet to get a reply. I would love some help on this as I just purchased the game.

I'm right there with you man. I have the same exact issue. I just bought this game on friday. If you know of any fixes that solved it let me know. The ONLY fix that got skyrim to run was to go into your nvidia control panel settings and changing the preferred graphics processor to the integrated intel one. Thats if you just want to run the game. As of right now i'm downloading a beta update for my graphcis card. i'll let you know if that works. I really don't want to run this game on a freaking intel processor with an nvidia just sitting there -.-

Your laptop a lenovo Y480?

  • 2 weeks later...

i've been doing techy work for years. Google is my first option, a forum is my last option. And that error code 51 article did nothing for me. I looked up down and around that thing and nothing solved my issue. You pretty much just asked "is it plugged in?" when it came to a reply....

The one thing that did solve my issue was installing the beta driver version 304.48 for the Nvidia 640m LE. Its worked for me ever since. I can't really max out the settings to well but it looks pretty damn good.
