Valkskyrim
after launching skyrim, while on the main screen just before continue new game load and all the other options appear, skyrim crashes. In the past when ive had issues with mods it has never affected the games ability to load but i am hoping this is just a simple mod conflict. im attaching the report archive generated by the crash, hopefully someone will be able to give some feedback. ive already ran boss and verified the integrity of my local files through steam Edited July 19, 2012 by Valkskyrim
xlcr
@Valkskyrim, hi, took a quick peek at report.wer and noticed possible issues with:EventType=BEXLoadedModule[82]=C:\Windows\system32\DSOUND.DLLFriendlyEventName=Stopped workingConsentKey=BEX BEX error is a buffer overflow exception caused by a driver/program incorrectly writing data to memory.DSOUND.DLL is a system process used by DirectX (directsound api) and part of the Microsoft Direct Sound Library and Windows audio. anyway, i'm guessing you've got somekind of sound driver issue or something incompatible got installed. did you install something that overwrote your existing DSOUND.DLL with an older/incompatible version?can't help you with this since you didn't provide any info on how your gaming rig is configured. have you scanned your machine for malware lately? (i recommend malwarebytes free utility). have you tried cofiguring: Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound, Playback tab, Speakers, Properties,Advanced tab, select 24 bit, 44100Hz (Studio Quality) in the drop down menu. have you tried launching Skyrim as a local administrator? Brandy1123
With what xlcr has posted, goto your start button on the bottom left. in the search bar, type "dxdiag" <--- no quotesand hit enter. The diagnostic program for Direct X will go through your system and tell you if something isn't right. Its not a technician and its also not definitive, but it will redily inform you of any major issues. When it asks about authenticating driver signatures, decline it.
