Why are some modders so weird?

you know, i'm a superb noob, i'm the baby of modders (just released my second armor mod), and i wondered the same thing the first time i log on the nexus, seeing all this guys that first upload the content and then tell you that they are stressed out and won't work anymore just look strange and quite childish to me.......

but now......i know why they were acting like this, i don't consider myself an artist, i like what i do and for first istance my work was made for me and basing on my taste wich is different from the other ones on the nexus so a not all the people appreciate the work of a modder.

however what makes a modder being so "strange" behaved is sometime the behaviour of some nexus users, they don't read the descriptions, insult you if you make even a little mistake and comment on the mod pages more like:

hey female version

hey small clipping issue in the backpart

hey f****ing cbbe and unp compatibility

than:

thank you but i don't like your work

your work looks like a dog s*** but i'm okay with that

good work but i would suggest you to....

 

you know if people start to mod they will know how a modder feels :D

 

however sorry for my english i hope that i write something that is understandable

And what about just the very 1st seconds you release the mod?

 

"Pics please"

"No pics no download"

"OMG armor mod with no pics"

"You should upload some pics or noone will download this"

 

I haven't released anything myself yet, but i think this is enough to piss a modder.

ahahahah yeah especially if you are struggling with the slowest internet line in the world to get the fil on the nexus :D

 

but that is something that we have to face and overcome i think.... until there will be one guy on the nexus that really apreciate my work and thanks me for my hours spent on a computer i will always upload the armors i make for my characters on the nexus....that for me is the best endorsement that a guy could give me :D

Your title is a bit decieving. You should also add why are some users weird. Weird users make up for more weird modders.

 

If you see people complain about most little things. And don't even describe the problem well enough. Like say your mod destroyed my game. And then doesn't even state how excatly did that happens, will stress out even the most experianced modders.

 

To say modder are weird is not enough, everyone has Real life to attend too, and sometimes a project is just too big and no longer fits with real life then there is bigger chance a modder will quite. Also lost of intererst seem quite popular. Or game limititations.

I agree that making mods is frustrating sometimes due to users not reading the description or even the latest comments. They just post a comment asking something that's been asked 2 comments below and it's very frustrating to answer the same questions over and over again, and if you told them to read the description they can get angry with you.

We are all humans (maybe some orcs or dark elves too), we all have good and bad days, and if you have a bad day and some users are being rude to you you can explode. Something like that happened with Alexandrox and WIS IV, right?

And of course thinks happen in real life that can make a modder to leave the modding scene.

Modders are usually creative people, and creative people can be temperamental, as was pointed out in a previous post. Can you imagine spending months creating your masterpiece, showing it to your mother, father or best friend and they turn round and say 'That's crap!'. How would you react? Now usually, the older guys, the veteran modders will take it on the chin and try and turn it into a positive situation where the younger guys will find it hard to deal with.

 

I personally love modding and everything it brings, whether it be good or bad. But I'm an older guy with a nagging wife, and if you had my wife nagging at you, then a few mod users crying 'CTD' is bliss. lol

That's why you shouldn't concern yourself with philosophy we don't know anything in it anyway :) . Instead you should focus on making mods, supporting mods, downloading them, whatever you're good at.

 

That last line was philosophy right ? :(

I think that this is a very healthy thread. It gives mod users a chance to vent about some of the frustrations they've experienced while trying to mod their game, which is fine. Everyone needs to vent. Modders have a 56-page thread entitled "dumb user comments", so this seems appropriate. :laugh:

as a modder, texturer(just learnt it since i got toons of complains on my erlier meshes about crappy texture, wich in that time i didt knew how to paint one) and as a coder, in comment section, i prefer comments, that gives both rose and thorns, that keep me going to learn more or develop/create more, but comments and rep down trolls with bad attitude and only got bad to say even thought he havent read, description nor the readme text in mod, that is specificly requires some skeleton or some other litle detail and then he come back to complain, pisses me off greatly, i was on the verge to join another comunity, and i stopped uploading on steam, first comment i got on steam was" u mod like crap go back to nexus", even yet this guy/guys dont have a single thing to show off.
