Minutemen Expansion/Quest Mods

I look on the Nexus and everywhere else, and all I see are two mods that expand on the Minutemen, really just adding new armors or tweaking quests. I want to see Minutemen quest mods. Ones that really expand on their story and add cool things that add depth. We have dozens upon dozens of mods for literally every other Fallout faction, so why not the Minutemen?

If you use We are the Minutemen, Far west Minutemen, and Militarized Minutemen (and hook them all into unique NPCs, which has a FOMOD with a replacer that combines all three), you get a VERY nice expansion to the Minutemen. There is also another that provides leaders, but I don't use that one. I've got groups of them patrolling all over the commonwealth, and they level along with me, so they don't become useless when I summon them.

 

However, No new quests. I got a new vendor at The Castle because of one of them (and she stands in the armory, which is weird as hell when you first get the armory, because she was already there LOL).

 

There'd be no good way to use Preston Garvy (or Ronny Shaw for that matter) for such a quest mod - a new 'ex-leader' would have to be created, to give you the quests (unless you rescripted Ronny's dialogue from scratch - that would be ideal. Preston would break too many things). I'd love to see something like that hooked into Nuka World, because that place becomes useless after you are done with it (IF you don't side with the raiders, that is).

 

And on that note - it should be possible (with some major mojo scripting savvy) to have one mod double as another; IF you can build a new leader that sends you on quests to take over Nuka World (building settlements/bases) for the Minutemen, it should be entirely possible to use the exact same mod to do it with the BoS as well (you only have to double-up on a few lines of dialogue that name the faction being used on that play-through). The ideal candidate for that in the BoS would be Paladin Brandis - I would love for them to have done more with him (and he'd probably be just as 'easy' to re-dialogue as Ronny Shaw, since both only have one associated quest).

Also there is You and What Army which adds additional MM patrols in 1 - 3 man teams between your settlements, but sadly no new quests.

I've looked at that one, and although it utilizes an idea I myself had awhile back (that Minutemen should be based on your own settlers, and what you equip them with, since that is what they are supposed to be), I thought that would be a little bit too many Minutemen marching around, given the patrols I already have from the other mods. Besides, I build lots of redundant provisioners between all my settlements using bots (after I complete Automatron), and they keep the roads clear. Nothing like 150 fully-upgraded assaultrons (with Minutemen paintjobs) marching around to keep the Commonwealth a safe place.

 

Still, I really love the concept. if something like that was the base for a much bigger mod, I'd definitely consider it. We need more BIG quest mods.

This almost qualifies as a quest, it at least gets the Minutemen into Nuka world. It's called Minutemen Takeover - Nuka World https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/30509 . I use Buffed Minutemen Militia and Minutemen reskin and standalone with it, which provides different ranked Minutemen with some nice uniform options. I do wish someone would expand their roll in Nuka world once open season is finished, and I'd like to see Minutemen in Far Harbor too. There are so many possibilities.

I'm actually planning an update that scales it back and allows for finer control over how many patrols spawn, where they spawn, and how far they go. As far as using it as the base for another mod, that's 100% fair game too! I left the permissions on You And What Army wide open, so anyone can take any part of that mod and do whatever they like with it. Personally I would recommend a major expansion mod hold off until 2.0, mostly because 2.0 will directly track every NPC it spawns, allowing for much more direct and complex control by those who choose to change things.

Those are the types of mods I was discussing, though. The ones that tweak quests and add some new things to them.

I'd love to see a big mod that adds story-driven quests, along the lines of Outcasts and Remnants, Fusion City Rising and Tales from the Commonwealth. Perhaps not nearly as large, but story-driven in that sense with intricate plots and stories.
