LHammonds
Same post @ Official Forums If I were to compile a resource that has various body mods, what would you like to see me include? It would serve a similar purpose as the "Full Human Male and Female Topless ImportReady Body" by CuteUnit and M4444x. But my version would include the new and improved skeleton resource called "RPG-BlackDragons Skeleton-Resource" that adds more bones for animating long hair, robes, wings and capes. It would not only be available in a single NIF file ready for import into 3D modeling programs but in an Export-Ready Blender file as well. The Blender file also has extra items in a separate layer purely to make pose shots inside Blender look better by adding ears, eyes and hair for that less-mannequin look. I currently have the vanilla male and female (+ topless) sets completed as well as Robert's Male and Female bodies. The archive also includes the basic textures so if the archive is extracted to the same folder that it was created in (C:\Bodies) then the texture paths would immediately work inside the 3D modeling tool without having to painfully adjust the texture paths. When exporting (in Blender), the paths are automatically correct and do not need to be manually changed in NifSkope. File Examples: OblivionFemale.blendOblivionFemale.nifOblivionFemaleNude.blendOblivionFemaleNude.nifOblivionMale.blendOblivionMale.nifRobertsFemaleV12Average.blendRobertsFemaleV12Average.nifRobertsFemaleV12AverageNude.blendRobertsFemaleV12AverageNude.nifRobertsMaleV4MuscularNude.blendRobertsMaleV4MuscularNude.nifRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants1.blendRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants1.nifRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants2.blendRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants2.nifRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants3.blendRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants3.nifRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants4.blendRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants4.nifRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants5.blendRobertsMaleV4MuscularPants5.nif Screenshot Examples: Oblivion Female in BlenderOblivion Female in NifSkopeRobert's Muscular Male in BlenderRobert's Muscular Male in NifSkope I'm looking for suggestions on what other bodies should be included and if the permissions would allow it or if I need to track down and obtain permissions as well as what versions I should use and what "options." (NOTE: I do not have 3ds Max or Maya so if somebody wants to import the NIF files and supply me an export-ready file in your program's native format, I will include it) Example of possibilities: FantasyFigureV10.blendTFFFantasyFigureV051b.blendBABV16RC2.blendHGEyeCandyFighter118.blendHGEyeCandyNormal11.blendHGEyeCandyGUTS119.blend Or am I just wasting my time with bodies other than vanilla Oblivion? I'm not one who makes a bunch of armor and clothing, especially for many different body mods but after thinking about the need to use this new skeleton resource, I had to wonder if a resource like this needed to be created...at least for the vanilla bodies if nothing else. SickleYield
I'm not sure. I suspect most of us who are serious about the modeling would do it ourselves for whatever body/bodies we're working with, and those further down the skill curve may not know how to use such a resource. As for newbies, that is what this is all about (myself included). It can be a daunting task figuring out what to do, how to put things together just to reach a point where you can export it something. This should help reduce those hurdles a bit...at least make things easier when putting tutorials together and referencing this as a base to start with. I also think that the new skeleton model is an excellent idea but at the time of this post, only 134 downloads have been registered (96 downloads on my Blender page). That's telling me that not many people are seeing, downloading or using it. LHammonds
SickleYield
That would be because any new skeleton resource is automatically incompatible with others, and the animations that come with BlackDragon's resource (if it's the one I think it is, which Seph made some videos of) are not suitable for every potential character (but will be used by every character in the game whether young, old, male or female). At least one of AlienSlof's mods comes with a different skeleton already. There's also the issue of animation in general, which is not a common skillset. If you create hair (for example) rigged to these extra bones, you must then create total replacements for ALL the game's character animations that incorporate animations for that hair. These will then also be incompatible with any OTHER animation replacers (such as Seph's hand-to-hand, which I use). The skeleton is an awesome piece of work, but it's not very practically workable for the average user or even modder. Of course the idea of creating the general mesh resources is a good one if you think it would be useful to new modelers. Be sure you link it from the CS Wiki if possible. ;)
