seanxx
After about 500 hours, 50 active mods I think I had my fill of Skyrim...for now. I am going away on a holiday for about 5 weeks, so i thought that's a perfect time to uninstall skyrim and start all fresh in sept right ? I have been having a few ctd lately (i never really had any bugs before luckily) I cant really say what mod might be causing it, i have disabled/enabled quite a lot of mods, done a few ini tweaks (for better archery). So does anyone have any advice for uninstalling skyrim? things i should know ? I was thinking of just saving my saves in another folder then copying and pasting them back into the save file (i might not even use those charactewrs for dawnguard, maybe i will just start again,)
woody79
My best advice would be to read the STEP Wiki about Reverting Skyrim to a Pristine (Vanilla) Installation, it's an excellent guide:http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting#Reverting_Skyrim_to_a_Pristine_.28Vanilla.29_Installation
seanxx
Thanks Woody79. That's a pretty extensive and detailed guide. part of me thinks just uninstalling and re installing might just be a lot easier. For me the joy of skyrim is getting a character to about level 30-40, once they are there i grow tired of them and restart so I think I dont need to follow such strict (but clear and precise) guidelines as STEP uses. Jupitus
I recommend pulling your old skyrim folder and saving it somewhere if you have the hardrive space. I did a fresh install as you are describing recently and have found that having my older folders on hand to check back on has saved me a lot of time and hassle particularly when it comes to hunting down which mods that I had installed or want to reinstall.
