cumbrianlad
Edit: read the original post if you will but for now I have a workaround and my warning for other CK users is to use vampire races such as 'BretonVampireRace', 'NordVampireRace' etcetera with caution. if you get the black face bug and it can't be cured by normal means, try my workaround below (edit 2) ... I've just made a test NPC using the exact same procedure as before but this time my NPC was a plain Breton, rather than Breton vampire race... works no problem. Both NPCs are in the same location. The vampire race has black face the other doesn't. The damn thing is I really wanted a vampire for the plot. Is there a specific fix for black face when the race is chosen as one of the vampire races in the traits tab? Edit 2: It's definitely to do with selecting a vampire race. I duplicated the original NPC, set her race to Breton, adjusted all the face gen parts and morphs to the settings I had originally and exported her face gen. It worked. She has vampire eyes. The only thing I couldn't match was the complexion which didn't have the vampire options, of course but I chose a human complexion that was close. I'll check the vampire race and see what else she may be missing in terms of abilities etcetera. Anything I find I'll try to add into her spells tab etcetera. It's not a fix but seems a reasonable workaround Original post: Hi. I've got a black face bug on one NPC that is new and unique. After making her I did the usual in CK. Actor menu scrolled down to my NPC, selected her, hit ctrl + F4, export face gen data got the completed message, okayed it, saved and exited. At this point I have the correct pair of mesh and texture files in Skyrim SE's data folder for my NPC. I load the game and the bug is there. The console command SetActorWeight 50 works but without her warpaint (which was clearly visible when previewing the 2 data files by double clicking them in explorer.) Closing the game and looking back in explorer at the relevant mod data folders, they now have two files in each, instead of 1. One is the correct one, the other is an NPC I don't even recognise. I've tried saves that have never seen the mod with the same result. Everything else in my mod shows up and works correctly. SSEedit is clean and applying a filter for conflict losers doesn't show any record of her. If it's anything to do with it, the NPC is female Breton vampire race. The profile that I'm testing on has no mods active that edit hair (particularly hair replacer is not active that I know causes black face in heaps of mods), body parts or vanilla NPCs. It does have a couple of quest mods active and mods for armour, weapons and smithing potion durations but naff all else. Any ideas? I find it weird that these extra nifs and dds files appear after testing in-game.
