Rennn
I'm looking at a superclocked GTX 680 to be the centerpiece of a few pc upgrades I have planned. My case is a full size gaming model, and right now it has two 120mm intake fans on the side, an 80mm intake fan on the front/bottom, and an 80mm outake fan on the top/back. Current case temperatures hit about 45c while gaming under full load, with my overclocked 460 hitting 55c at its max, but a superclocked 680 is worlds ahead of my overclocked 460, so naturally I'm worried about heat. Do you think this superclocked model of 680 would require a cooling system to keep the temperatures safe?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-771&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=3&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=%28keywords%29 Do you think a 670 would be a better choice? Vindekarr
Any GTX series card will give you great service for many years. I currently have a GTX580 mildly OC'ed as the centerpiece of my rig; it's quiet, cool, and gives excellent power. Moreover, it's been astonishingly reliable, moreso than any other GPU I've ever owned, and I'm still under warranty so if something does go wrong, it's rectifiable. Brand wise, mine's an EVGA, and they've been really good to me, I've heard nothing but praise from them, especialy regarding service. My cooling setup is a little eccentric, it's major overkill for the power of my PC since in melbourne we get very hot summers. I have a Cooler Master HAF-X(a commendably good tower unless you're a lanner in which case it's aweful, weighs ~ 48 tons), four 200mm fans, pushing air through two 50mm microfans and a rubber air-ducting system, works fine, even in summer, under max load with stock cooling on the actual parts. I've had a GTX before though, back in the early noughties, and it's still going fine in GF's PC. Those things are bulletproof, I swear. Erik005
You can also get a different brand of card, the asus DCU is very good or the gainward 680 phantom An oc'd reference model is not the best thing you can get.
