So they won't charge ahead to a deathclaw nest with a police baton, or ruin your cover at the very second a fiend 100 m away will get a vague sense of suspicion, but stay within 2-3 m radius.

 

Also a good bonus would be that companions would try to stay by the sides or behind player, at least when using ranged weapons.

Yes I use JIP CC&C and it has a lot of useful modes for combat, but unless you want to go to Mod Configuration Menu at every encounter and turn on different behavior pattern, there's no other way to implement what I was talking about. . "Move Followers Aside", looks like a solution though, will give it a try. Thanks for the help!
