Bac0nati0n
I started a new character, got all the way to the 2nd town and had too many items on and had to head back to Goodsprings to sell my stuff. But on the way back the game started to lag REALLY bad and it just crashed for no reason. I have not had past problems with lag being this bad and It rarely just crashes like this. I have played through at least 3 times with no problems but now every time i start the game this happens. I would really like some help as to what I can do to continue playing with my character. Here is my load order: Domecity.esm FalloutNV.esm OldWorldBlues.esm OWNB - Open World.esm FreesideOpen.esm AngelPark.esm Project Nevada - Core.esm Project Nevada - Equipment.esm MoMod.esm AWorldOfPain(Preview).esm Domecity_Kaz_Plugin.esm OWNB - Red Canyon Overhaul.esp FreesideOpenPatch.esp AngelParkRemix.esp Project Nevada - Cyberware.esp WeaponsModsExpanded.esp dD - Enhanced Blood Main NV.esp NewVegasBounties.esp Edited July 29, 2012 by Bac0nati0n

JimboUK
Try disabling A World of Pain, I found that made my game unstable.
Bac0nati0n
Try disabling A World of Pain, I found that made my game unstable. Thanks, I'll try it although I do enjoy the content that the mod adds.
JimboUK
It is very good, it may not be that anyway but your symptoms are very like an issue I had, an issue that went away after disabling AWOP.
Cyberlazy
What video card are you using? (its texture memory amount being most important)are you using any texture addon packs? While I found AWOP *areas* where crashing my system, the problem went away entirely once I started using a texture pack that did not overload my video card (NMC small for a 1gig card!) and/or bought a better video card. He just uses more unique objects then bethsoft (and adds some new ones to the world, like that shack on the way back to goodsprings), so AWOP puts more stress on a system then bethsoft did. I have 2 RAM cards installed: 1GB and then the other is a Nvidia Geforce GT240 1GB, I do have texture mods... NMC(small pack) and weapon retexture pack WRP, the game seemed to run fine with these up until now. Most of the time almost 70% of my lag is from my slow processor, a Intel Pentium Dual CPU 1.60 GHz. Even though my computer lags sometimes I know that it can easily play this game for hours with no problems whatsoever. I only installed the Weapon Retexture mod a little while before this happened, but it has given me no reason to believe it is the cause.
luthienanarion
Large textures can easily overload your video card's VRAM, which has nothing at all to do with your regular system RAM. NMC (small) is pushing it for a 1GB card by all by itself, much less with other hi-res textures thrown in. I have a 1GB HD5770 myself, and that's why I don't use hi-res texture mods. Guess who's game doesn't ever crash? The game engine is indeed very processor-intensive, but that shouldn't crash it unless it takes an abnormally long time to complete some task while it's lagged out. I have tried disabling AWOP and nothing has changed. This was not the cause of the CTD...
JimboUK
In that case try removing NMC as said the game is not great when it comes to VRAM usage, I had a 5870 and the game did crash at regular intervals, I didn't think much of it because I'm used to games that use Bethesdas "customised" Gamebryo engine crashing. I replaced it with a 3GB 7970 and now my game doesn't crash (NMC medium). In fact I've been able to push it quite far, for a screenshot I spaŵned nearly 200 NPCs, the frame rate was terrible but the point is it didn't crash. I've also set up 30 vs 30 fights through the console and they run perfectly without a single glitch. The latest thing I did again for a screenshot was to place a nuclear blast in the middle of 60ish spawned NPCs, again it didn't crash. Attempts to do similar things with the old 1GB 5870 never ended well. The game does appear to be very sensitive to VRAM as Luthienanarion says. Edit: Also try this http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/35262 you'll need the alternate version of NVSE with it http://nvse.silverlock.org/beta/fnv4gb_nvse.zip
