Kborg64
I already know that this isn't recommended, as it can cause crashes. However, is it ever safe to delete vanilla items, like trees, flora, etc., if you are making a town overhaul. My side project is a complete town overhaul, and I was just wondering if it is safe to delete things if my mod is a complete overhaul (should be used with few to none other town/city mods), or adds new buildings, other items, etc. where vanilla objects may be. I assume the best way to move/"delete" vanilla objects would be to just disable and keep them in their original location/move them under the landscape. thumbincubation
You can probably get away with deleting them, then using xedit to undelete and disable references.
cumbrianlad
I second that. I've had to delete several such objects but cleaning in SSEedit seems to work fine. The only thing you've got to be really fussy about is vanilla navmesh. It's a complete no-no to delete that. Even joining up holes in vanilla navmesh to eliminate an island will give the error that a navmesh has been deleted. This can totally screw the behaviour of vanilla NPCs. Just zap those blasted trees and plants to oblivion! As long as the tree isn't an objective in a quest like the tree in the middle of Whiterun, or the Eldergleam , you'll be fine.
